    Having spent most of this week clearing several miles worth of electric fences from the short circuiting and horse-escaping presence of various types of bushes, branches and small trees, I wish to thank Troika for making the brush hook a superior weapon in VtMB to the most overrated sword in the world. Hell, spending several hours massacring trees with such a tool of destruction made me feel like Conan the Barbarian!

    It's funny because it's true.



    As to the Brush Hook in VtMB, I loved the stealth kills with it. Level 5 Obfuscate on my Malkavian plus a big fucking hook was so much fun! ...whenever he can stop arguing with stop signs long enough to kill something.

    Katanas are vastly overrated as far as I know. What it all boils down to really is a thin blade of somewhat inferior steel that is useful for fighting lightly armored or unarmored opponents. That's what it is, a samurai faced with a European knight in full plate would soon be reduced to a pulp of very dead meat even if he had Chuck Norris, Mr T, Lars Monsen and Alice Cooper to help him. Good luck getting through all that armor with a weapon designed to cut through flesh and leather.

    What irks me with some katana enthusiasts is how they somehow believe that if you drop a katana, it will cut through the planet, gravitate towards the sun and remain on the sun's surface unscathed. They simply aren't that great.

    For the record, Damascus steel wasn't a unique feature of katanas, far from it in fact.

    Often by kids who have watched way too much anime. Then there's the haters who buy one those stainless steel pieces of crap from Pakistan, try to cut logs with it, and decide such a weapon is crap in all uses based on a completely inaccurate method of testing. Like most weapons, they were pretty effective for what they were designed for and damned little else.
    I really hate it when people think full plate equals unmovable target. It wouldn't have been used, even for the short time it was, if it was like how movies portray it (the movie Excalibur for example).

    Meh. I prefer Jian over Katanas anyways. (The Jian is a chinese flat-bladed sword, highly flexible and with a razor-sharp edge. Mmmmm.)
