I need help. We all do. But I need help with a game issue. I just started playing two weeks ago. (What had I been doing the rest of my gaming life?) I am playing a ... uhm ... "good" thief. He's actually very good. In the beginning I stopped the bank robbery in Shrouded Hills. I became a Hero. Some (game) months after, about 20 levels, I went back and figured I could pick pocket the orc, get the combination to the safe, get the loot, and leave to another town. It actually worked until I went back to Shrouded Hills. I had to go back and I was trapped inside! The only way out of Shroueded Hills now is by killing "The Doc". And I really don't want to do that. Every time I kill him my save game goes hay-wire and I lose my membership to the Thieves Underground. Does anyone know of a way in which I can: a) Kill Doc and not lose the memership to the Thieves Underground? b) Exit Shrouded Hills by any other route that is not the bridge? (Teleportation Scroll is not an option!) c) Give the "Kenderly" misplaced money back to the bank so everyone is happy and I can move on? I'll appreciate some help here. [/i]
If the half-orc is still around (jacobs I believe) then try asking him about the job, and then ratting him out to the doc. That puts you back in good standing, provided you can still talk to the doc of course... Usually, I save the bank and become a hero, then take the rob back quest, and take the money, and then rat him out. It may be a case of reloading or even restarting. Some things you can try are the invisibilty scroll and/or prowling. It may allow you to exit undetected.
Thanks! It seems then that I'm stuck. I already tried the "talking" path. The half-orc won't talk to me and Doc talks with a barrel for a mouth only. As soon as he sees me he starts shooting. I guess I'm banned from Shrouded Hills until my next re-incarnation....
No! WAIT! Don't give up yet! No, you're not stuck!! This happened to me too! Doc blocks the bridge, but you can still go in and out of Shrouded hills just fine! I played the game all the way through to the end as a 100% good mage, with Doc still there waiting to kill me by the bridge, WITHOUT killing Doc, and WITHOUT the teleportation spell! All you need to do to leave Shrouded hills is to access the world map. All you need in order to do that is to go to either the Southwest of Southeast corners of Shrouded hills until the "scroll-looking" map turns into the blue world map. Then just click on it and go wherever your heart desires in Arcanum. When you wish to return to shrouded hills, just do so, and you load up near the Constable. DON'T go near the bridge, as Doc will attack you (as you already know). I've leared you can still shop at the gypsy lady without a problem, but anywhere nearer to Doc and he'll attack. Like this you can play the entire game, without any need of traversing the bridge whatsoever. See? Don't give up so soon, unless you really wanted to start a new game.
Um, little problem, I think that if you try that, you wont be able to go through Shrouded Hills. Am I wrong? It would defy the point of putting Doc Roberts there in the first place to get away that easy. Maybe you are right, though. Never tried.
Windmills: I do not agree. I had already tried what you are saying at least 3 times and it didn't work. The world map tells me that "My path is blocked" if I try to go anywhere that is not the crash site. I'm not going to re-start the game, by the way. I am planning on completing the game with all the "mistakes" I've made. Playing a charisma 4 character is interesting. For example, I didn't notice any change in the way people treated me before or after running around naked in Tarant ....
It only says that your path is blocked if you haven't already left Shrouded hills via the bridge (ie. solve the Lukan problem). Once you've done that, you can leave anywhere, anywhen. You just have to make sure that you go as far as you can. If you are 'just' at the world map, then it sometimes doesn't recognise the boundary. Also, if you leave this way, then you reputation stays intact - since you haven't killed the doc yet.
