    ... As stated.

It will chop away at it for a few seconds until stabilizing again. Incredibly annoying.

I've the official as well as the latest version of the Unofficial patch installed. I've tried running with and without the high-res patch - same results.

    Ring any bells?

Did you find a way to deal with it?

I find the game unplayable under these conditions.

Alright kids. I was hoping someone else would step up and examine this, but since they're all lazier bastards than myself. I'll inquire. Firstly: I want specs on your machines. What you're running, everything you know about it, memory, cpu, video card, hard drive details, manufacturer, age since purchased, operating system, update status (ie: are you running service pack 1, 2, or 4?), and any other details that may seem prevalent. I'm going to go pass out, and probably won't be back to respond to this for at least 24, if not 48 or so hours, but I will get back, and do my best to help you through this. In the mean time, I advise you check my "Arcanum, Vista, and your Idiocy" thread, and try all the steps listed there.

...huh, I think I'm gonna rename it that.

Also, deactivate the UAC. Deactive it now.

I've never turned off UAC, it causes no compatibility issues for me.

I kept it on for a long time, and then it refused to let me play the Witcher, so I shot it to death. At least, the icon for it. Can't see my health bar because of the shattermark, but it's still quite a good game.

You do realize that my thread about Vista explains a very simple way to turn it UAC off, correct?

Appreciate the effort. I'm at my wit's end here.

Pentium 4, Prescott @3ghz. No overclocking. Hyper-threading is off.
    2GB DDRAM
    Radeon 9200 @64 MB RAM.

Arcanum is running on XP SP2 installed on a Maxtor 6Y080M0 packing 80 gigs.

This is a frankenrig and most individual parts are second hand. They're all perfectly operational though except for... Well. I usually run a Ti4600 which has been serving me fine for around seven years now, but the PSU is being glitchy recently so I've decided to give it a break with a less demanding video card I had lying around. I sincerely doubt the PSU has anything to with anything however seeing as everything is smooth as butter until I rest... -- But -- in case there's a memory leak involved with resting in Arcanum, I can see how memory sticks could pull a bit more voltage and cause stutter. I wouldn't really put my money on this theory though.
