i'm now lv. 30 - i need a good mage follower, i want him spend CP not just on healing, but on other spell colleges. is there a lv. 30 (or +) NPC would join me?
Raven is level 32. She does White Necro and Water magick. Maybe other stuff. Her real strength is as an archer, though, IMHO.
You can always edit your followers' level up schemes (which are quite lame) to make them suit your needs.
i know... i know... the real problem is - i need a follower with same level as i do. thx anyway, uh, thx... i'm still on finding H.T Parnells for location of Quintarra.
Well, you'll probably be over 32 then, by the time Raven will join you. Sorry. [ This Message was edited by: Feldon Kane on 2001-11-25 22:55 ]
That's just not right. Look on TA's main site, they have all the followers listed there, what skills they invest in and what level they are when you find them. Plan ahead for crying out loud...
Howdy. I just looked at the main site, and they have Raven starting at level 25! Hmmm. Not in my game.
Raven is lvl 32, and from what I can tell, followers will not join you untill you are at most two levels lower than them. This disregarding any alignment / aptitude requirments. Slightly related: Is there any way to make Dante happy? atm he has taken a serious dislike in me (21 reaction). Yeah, I know, I should've let him go in Dernholm, but the guys didn't do shit to help me retrieve the taxes, so he didn't earn it. Is it possible to bring him back later?
tax?... hmm... you can help the mayor bring it back the dagger, or let him see the Tarant newspaper (which can found in Dermalon), or just steal it.
Yep! Just unDat arcanum3.dat (located in c:/sierra/arcanum/arcanum3.dat if you used the default directory), and look in the mes and rules folders till you find the file with the level schemes...I think it's gamelevel.mes... When you understand how it works (kinda hard to explain), then you can edit them so that your followers actually learn the top schematics!
The problem with editing npc's is that you can only add level scheme, for example Virgil, u can make him a tech, but u can't remove his first healing magic which he will continue to use despite being a tech due to ur editing(this shows how stupid that guy is). Also, he cant make things since he's primarily a mage before, so useless, smithy mastery and others. This goes with all the other NPC...
Not entirely true there Skie...it is also possible to edit their conversation options, therefore all you have to do if copy-paste the Magnus "What sort of things can you make?" and the appropriate extra commands into Virgil's speech file, and voila! Virgil can be made into a technologist. You can edit the existing schemes as well as adding in new ones. Just make sure that you keep a back up of the originals in case something goes wrong.
wow! you really are an expert in this thing, BTW, what file is it? p.s. Maybe Jinxed can ,make you your own specialty avatar.
I dunno..i dont think the makers of this game intended for us to completely screw up all the leveing schemes like that...i personally htink that finding followers to suit your need tis part of the strategy of the game. I you htink about it...if you can simpey change the schemes..then all teh characters are essentilly EXACTLY the same..minus race and gender. Need a technologist...then it takes skill to find one. IT seem s kinda wierd to just go tweak the game files and make virgil one.
Well, they should at least allowed your tech characters to gain max smithy discplines instead of letting them max at 4. After all they also gain they experience, fair and square...
NPC's are limited to the same amount of character points as the PC is... I don't want to turn everyone into a technologist or a mage...I simply want to be able to have the technologist followers simply max out their disciplines...There anything wrong with that? I'm not the sort of person who abuses or cheats the system...
