I've done the quest before, and was progressing along nicely, up to where the halfling comes and talks to Thorndup about his wife. Well, I took the mission to go save her, as usual, and was about halfway to the barn when real life interfered. So I left my charcters sitting around for about three or four minutes. So when I got back to the game, I found out the lady I was supposed to save was dead long before I reached the barn. So, no firearms mastery for me. I'd saved my game as soon as I got back, so there's no 're-load and do over again'. I don't want to do this character all the way over again, so I'd like to know if there's a way to still succeed in this quest and gain mastery, whether it be through resurrection, or conversation. Any help is appreciated.
You can always use Arcanum Character Editor to gain mastery. As for "normal" means, I am afraid it isn't possible if you botched the quest.
Character editor? I'm assuming the character editor doesn't come with the game (since I can't find it in my files). Do you know where I can find it?
The thing is, you don't really need Mastery all that badly. You can fight your way through the game without it, it may be slightly more difficult, but not too much. Firearms Mastery eliminates range penalty, I believe, but I am not sure how big this penalty is.
