http://www.adeleblancsec-lefilm.com/_en/index.html This movie may well motivate me to apply my French lessons for the first time in 10 years if only so I can ridicule it.
What's wrong with it? The French (all French, including their colonies) have traditionally made great films. Have you seen Le Declin de l'Empire Americain? Truly a masterfully done work.
I actually quite like French films, I just have the habit of being harsh about everything. That said they still can't fight wars properly.

It's French. It's traditional for English based nations to acknowledge that nothing great comes from France or those unfortunate enough to be touched by them. At least that's the understanding I get from my British friends.
You say that like we're wrong in thinking so... one word: Peugeot. Magikot: I'm now adding Flushed Away to my Netflix queue.
Ex girlfriend was in my car once and as we drove past she saw a Peugeot, though she pronounced it pew-got when she said "Whats a pewgot?" The relationship went downhill soon after, though I don't want to believe that was the reason...
France also does not participate in the military wing of NATO, and wields her own nuclear strike force in their general arrogance ("France can and must do everything on her own). In short, their Gaulleism is what annoys you Americans.
Gaulle's face alone is the very definition of stereotypical Frenchness, which may or may not contribute to that effect. My own lack of enthusiasm for the French stems from personal experience, though I'm far too laid back to actually uphold pointless disdain. The quality of any country's films is situational, though on this occasion I quite support Vorak's disposition.
Denmark completely obliterates France in the area of film. With a few exceptions, France is basically hanging around with us in the very bottom rung of film making nations.
Yet somehow, deep down, I can't help to feel that the Onion is the most accurate news source there is if you wish to understand the human condition.
