Here are some bad-ass male names, and not a "real" middle name in the lot:
    Dominic Steel
    Ajax Storm
    Dimitri Wolf
    Santino Ruger
Ju-Long Dragon (Ju-Long means Large Dragon in Mandarin)
Fionn Spatha (Spatha is a Celtic sword, Fion is a Celtic name)
    Glock Cobalt
    Salvatore
    Antonio
    Carmine

Yeah, I know the last one is kind of ridiculous...wait, maybe all of the middle names are ridiculous. But I like them.
    Here's some female names.

    Magdalena
    Madalina
Svetlana Argent (old heraldry term meaning "silver")
    Tanya
    Natalya
I like "a" endings for female names.

Sigurd, how old are you? Please, either give your kids real names or refrain from reproducing altogether. Kids who get stuck with names like those should be allowed to kill thier parents, justifiable homicide.... IMO, "Carmine" is one of the only normal names you've got there.

Well, if I'm ever stuck for names for my ToEE characters I know who to call....

seems that all is going quite well here. Some of you are beginning to disturb me in a strange way. I wonder what the prolonged time here at HoL has done to your minds?!

Sig you had a few that I liked however they await review of the wifey. I say that becausse we (wifey n' I) want our children to have names that are not that common. But not too out there.

Emma (my 'Gaby' girl) was a compromise because I was tired of arguing about names(the wifey tells it as 'I got choose the Gabrielle'). But that is only because I knew that the other names that I liked would have got an instantaneous veto and probably start some unneeded discussion ending with me sleeping in the living room! And I wanted to name Makenna 'Aryth Celestyn'. My wifey truly liked Celestyn, but has this really wierd problem with envisioning some fucked up thing that she immediately associates with the name or some messed up nickname that the child may never have.

Middle names are intended to be used so that a child knows when he/she is REALLY in trouble. The middle name is used for especially heinous acts, of to prevent you from cursing at your child. Come to think of it they were probably invented to be a curse that ANY child recognizes. At least I knew when one of my siblings was in trouble cause you could hear ma or pa yell a first and middle name. At that moment you wanted to be as far away from that person as was possible in the shortest period of time (great time to realize that you forgot some chores-collecting eggs, new straw for the dogs, filling the tractor with fuel, anything to not be in the house!).

    So far my list has:
    Boys
    Zeff
    Naean
    Logain
    Thane
    Noal
    Raolin
    Yurian

    Girls
    Caseille
    Elenia
    Ehlana
    Setalle
    Poledra
    Sabelle
    Alanna
    Ce'Nedra
    Svetlana
    Aviendha

Don't know how many of them will make through the first round though!? But then agian you never know. Maybe after the third time that I want the name my wifey might give in, but more likely it will cause another arguement(God, I love bieng an asshole sometimes :) )

Please keep 'em coming, and I think we should make this a little competition. Sorry my wifey is the judge :-( . Once a list is comprized, we shall see who's name(s) makes it the furthest! Good luck!

What's up with the female avatar, RP?? Are you and your wife lesbians?? Have you opted for artificial insemination?? If so, why aren't YOU the one carrying?? That whole route has always seemed grotesque to me and I'd rather adopt a child than bring another into the world; that is, IF I were a lesbian and IF I felt like caring for a child. The world is too fucked up to bring more little ones into it, in my opinion. Besides that, here are my girl/boy names: Paige/Kurt, Taryn/Edgar, and Leah/Holden. I don't much care for middle names and, besides, those sometimes have attachments to one's surname. Enjoy!

I wonder at your choice of names. Observe the following:

    and

Don't you think the lists and the statements are a little conflicting? As for the "Poledra" and "Ce'Nedra", way to steal a name from a fantasy book. Even worse, it's a David Eddings one, the mass-selling, cookie cutter lite-fantasy book factory. Not that I haven't enjoyed some of what he's written.

Svetlana is the only remotely normal name in that list, and even then it's Russian. As Canis said, justifiable homicide. Don't be surprised if they hate you in 15 years either. I hope you don't get a boy, because he'll probably end up gay with the names you'll be forcing on him. Or change it to Bob Smith. Or both.

    I'm 18, and I don't know what I want/I'm 18, I just don't know what I want....Sorry
Haha...you really think I'm going to screw my kids over like that? I'm not really going to give my kids first and middle names after gun companies.
How can you say that Carmine is the only "normal" name on the list? The only really far-out first names are Ajax and Glock. I guess Ju-Long would be a little strange for a non-Chinese, and Fionn is maybe a little wierd. But Salvatore, Antonio, Santino, Magdalena, etc, are all fairly common Italian names. I know Russian kids named Svetlana, Dmitri and Natalya. Salvatore Rosselli was my Grandfather's name.

Seriously RP; Yurian? Sounds more like a gay furby than a kids name.

Forgive me if I'm a little more traditional. Alexander is a name I've always been fond of. If you are looking for something more exotic, try Fernando, or one of it's routes. Fredrick, Ferdinand, something along those lines.

What about Joan for a girl's name? It sounds very, VERY old fashioned, but I think that's actually making it rather uncommon. I've only met 2 Joans in my life.

Don't try and name your kids ridiculous things, THEY have to live with them. People like that are the reason people like me have girls with names like Mercedes in my class. Or Destiny. Tell me something, when did it become the goal of parents to give their kids name's so that they can only become porn stars when they get older? It's like naming your kid Geeves, he's not going to end up being a scientist.

Jar Jars just mad because he's never gonna get laid. Personally, I think Hope is a pretty name, and since the two Hopes that I know are the sweetest girls alive, I don't think its a bad choice. As for Will, I would rather be his slave for a week than yours for an hour. And since I happen to like almost every Will I know, I think its a good name. Most guys named Will are also hotties, just fyi.

Ju-Long Dragon... so basically they would be named Large Dragon Dragon? Did you, perchance, steal some of those names from books? cause I recognize a couple.
I personally like the name Damion for a boy, or Salvatore. I dunno about a girls name though, I'll speak with my girlfriend and see if she has any ideas for names for girls.

Hey, Chalupa, where the fuck do you get off thinking that you can punk on someone like that. For fuck's sake my friends rarely even say shit like that and that's because they know me and can get away with a little shit. But you have no fucking grounds for that kind of shit. If I choose to have a female avatar what the fuck is it your concern!? You didn't pick it and its not on your posts; so what the fuck is it to you if I decide to buck the traditional guys have male avatar and girls have female avatar idea. Perhaps I saw something in this particular avatar, or just plain liked that one. Does if fucking matter what I choose to put below MY fucking name?! I didn't think so!!!! Furthermore where in the fuck did you learn that it would be okay to fucking insult someone's wife?! Let alone someone that you have never fucking met, and therefore know nothing of them or thier wife. That, my friend, is a very slippery slope you have tried to climb, and I best suggest that a fucking apology be in quick fucking order. Not so much to me, but to my wife.
THAT WAS NOT SMART BY ANY MEASURE!!!!

Anyway, I do agree that this world is rather screwed right now, but future generations may find the way to unscrew this messed up world. Besides why one is not grateful to thier parents for giving them life I do not know. I just figured that I could help with overpopulating of the world alittle bit by vicariously adding hundreds of new mouths to feed(a few generations down the line).

And Jar what is wrong with liking a name that I read in abook somewhere? Absolutely nothing! You see these are names that I like, not names that my wife has okayed. I do like the strange names, but so be it if my kids hate me. I am fairly sure that I will do some things in thier lives that will make them hate me moreso than thier names will. Or at least enough to forget about the horrible name.

The main thing that both my wifey and I want is a name that is not too common. We would like our children to have names that are as unique as they, and maybe never meet someone with the same. Like Joan (thank you whoever mentioned it). But I always like names that noone has probably heard before, or ever met someone with it. Names that never make it past an idea because my wife carries final say (which is probably a good thing), and she is not the dreamer in our relationship.

btw - Chalupa here is my apology if my words seemed a little heated or harsh, but please realize that you hit a tender topic that is best avoided from now on. I can handle the lesbo comment, but bringing my wifey into the picture is not too wise!

Given what she's previously agreed to, I'd say she's the lesser of two dreamers. You need to hire someone to name your future children for you, because we all know you're going to fuck it up.

As we used to say in school, it's called "being a tag". You can like it, but using a name someone else has created (an unconventional name at any rate) for the purposes of a fantasy novel screams "I want my children to be unique, but I can't come up with a decent name myself!"

And yes, I'm aware that if everyone's name was original then we'd have run out by now, but I think you get my point. If not, you're more stupid than I feared.

You're one of those 'life is a precious gift to be treasured and preserved at all costs' people aren't you? Man, there are roughly 6 billion people in the world, which is 6 billion precious gifts. In other words, plenty more where they came from. Not to be a goth, but no one asked to be born you know. It's not like it's a present or anything.

On a side note, I'd still like to carry out my plan to solve the overpopulation problem by reducing population density to a uniform amount, and overall bring the population down by about 2 billion. Conveniently, overcrowded places would be hit quite hard, and places like Australia would not.

Not my little fight (and Hell will freeze over before I automatically take Chalupa's side in a debate) but why does your wife care? She doesn't read the forum, wouldn't have read what Chalupa said (unless you told her, which is not smart on your part) and she's also not going to read any possible apology. I also don't see what you're pissed about, but I have a history of insensitivity.

The names of Frank Zappa's children were "Dweezil Zappa" (his son) and "Moon Unit Zappa" (daughter). IMO best names ever.

Just start randomly drawing scrabble pieces until you find 6-9 letters in some kind of coherent sequence that sounds interesting to you.

The "double dragon" is intentional, of course. No, I didn't steal any from books, if you mean names other people made up for their fantasy novels, such as Yurian and Logain (false Dragons in The Wheel of Time Saga). I did take Ajax from the Iliad, obviously, but since it's an actual Greek name, it isn't "stealing."

Not just Poledra and Ce'Nedra - "Ehlana" and "Elenia" are also from David Eddings' books. I really love his books, but I think naming children after them is a bit too much...

Actually, some of them are rather common where I live - 'Magdalena', for example, or 'Natalya' though we spell it 'Natalia'. Of course, those are of Latin use and that's why they sound weird to you...
And Aries - look at those names. Achilles, Alexander, Helenna, Alexandra, Eurydice... Do I smell Greek here?

Spanish and Italian are very similar, therefore there are many names shared between the two languages. Natalya is the Russian spelling of the name. I love Russian names, but of course not quite as much as Italian names.

    I do like: Boys
    Achilles
    Rendell

    and
    Girls
    Pandora
    Eurydice
    Gaia(like this pselling)

but I most like Sleek's idea of just drawing scrabble pieces until they make a name. Would be interesting and wifey would expect something like that from me.

Oh and now that we cover naming, did you know that Brazil is the country with the kookiest names? The director from the Public Register of Sao Paulo gave an interview a few years back. He said that they allowed you to name your child ANYTHING (obscenities excepted of course) you could think of. There are Emerson Marlborinho, Yabiliquinha and all the weirdo names you could think of. In my country, low class people tend to use horrible names like Merelaitska, Yaximilithzel, Yuslavi, Yrzebeth, Ramsky, etc. Native tribes that take contact with civilization like to put kooky names too. I met one of them called USNAVY.
