    So playing a half-ogre, I had to plead with the Bates' factory guard to get him to answer my questions, to which his response was:

    "As long as you avert your eyes from me, I suppose I can speak for a moment. I don't like your kind eyeing me."

    I thought this was unbelievably harsh, and also pretty hilarious! I could never imagine saying something like this to an ethnic minority where I live. And so here's the question, what's your favourite racist Arcanum line you've heard?

    "Get your hands off of me, you damned dirty ape!" also ranks pretty high with me.

    I suppose it is the one innkeeper in blackroot says to half-orcs (can not recall exact words), but it was something like;

    "30 coins instead of 25 for your kind, and I will give you the worst room with blankets that has already fleas. Not that you can mess it any more than it is."

    It would be still offensive if he said "30 for you.." and gave me a shitty room without saying it loud, but saying it to my face? well he definitely earned that dynamite.

    That's very funny, it made me laugh just hearing it. That was the first time I've ever heard that one, I guess I need to get involved in more trash talk with the innkeepers!

    I always hated begging people for the privilege of talking to them.

    Though I could always kill them on the spot instead.

    Ever since I started picturing the begging as being told in a sarcastic tone, it's not so annoying anymore.

    I like when you discuss with the poison dealer about your rat problem.

    What bothers me about this when playing a half-ogre is the game actually says "Due to their large size, they rarely face discrimination in open cities." You'd think people wouldn't dare to insult a half-ogre, but they're almost as bad as if you were playing a half-orc.

    And yeah the conversion with the poison dealer is pretty great. Really any line where people insult an orc or half-orc is amusing.

    Another good one is when playing a gnome Bunny asks if you want to play "hide the coin", not so much offensively racist but it's still stereotyping gnomes as penny-pinching little gits. A prostitute today would certainly never say that to a Jew who's stereotype the gnomes seem to be based on.

    EDIT: Just found another I thought I'd share: "A dwarf sees many things down here in the mines, but I can't say I've ever seen a more repulsive creature than you! Begone from me!" - saying my half-ogre is more hideous than a disgusting cave monster is a pretty inventive way of saying "I don't like you"!

    About racism in Arcanum, I would expect some respect in Boil at least as a half-orc, I mean from Maug's gang. But nope still insulted for being half-orc!

    By the way if you think playing as half-orc is annoying try idiotic half-orc! if people does not dismiss you without dialog options then they insult you! Best part is best response you can give to them to shame them is;

    "Huh? Me no gud?"

    I noticed this a few days back too, one of Maug's gang implied that I was lower class than him. I really wish my character could have replied "Look you're a half-orc living in the Boil, I'm not trying to rude but I think we both know who's higher class out of the two of us!"

    I do not know if it counts, but Loghaire's cold hatred upon realising that my character is an elf has awesome written all over it.

    Yeah he does go pretty over the top, with his "I'VE SPILLED OCEANS OF BLOOD WITH MY AXE" speech - or at least I think it's words to that effect.

    THE BODIES OF THE FALLEN WOULD MAKE A MOUNTAIN TO HIDE THE SUN! AND YOU DARE!?

    ...

    Why, I appear to have pooped my pants with rage.

    Please excuse me for a moment. I need to remove this poop from my underwear.

    ...to make room for more, because I am SO MAD about this situation.

    AH another nice memory about discrimination against ugly people in Arcanum; try getting the entry permission for gentlemen's club in Tarant by satisfying bodily needs of that retarded gnome WITH an ugly female character.

    I am already giving up my dignity for a stupid permission, no need to insult me further sir!

    I like how Dante relishes every orc death. This from the clergy! Tsk, tsk.
