How stupid is this. When my human characters use firearms it uses up fatigue damage, a lot. I`m guessing when you get higher in level it uses up less fatigue to use guns, but I wouldn`t really know beacuse I never put enough time into a firearms character to get past the crash site. Do I actually have to put tons of points into constitution just to have a decent gunfighter?

However I notice that my dwarf gunslinger uses little or no fatigue when using guns.

It's not about constitution, but strength. All weapons (including firearms) have a minimum strength requirement to be used effectively. If you see something like MSR: 10 when you equip your gun, you'll have an accuracy penalty (and iirc fatigue loss) with that weapon if your strength is less than 10.

Also you'll lose some fatigue in turn based combat if your remaining speed is less than the speed cost of your action. (But you must have already figured this out by now)

I noticed that too. I also figured out that if you leave the crash site right after talking to virgil and go to Shrouded hills, you can get apprentice training from the Doc right away. I usually then help out with the bank issue to get the fine revolver from the Doc and jacket off the dead guard. Then I head back to the crash site and continue as normal. Fatigue loss seems to go down quite a bit that way.

I start out with 2 levels in fire-arms and up perception to do this, and put 1 point into dodge to start.

By the time I am ready to leave Shrouded hills I have 3 levels into fire-arms and expert training. I put 1 point into persuasion to get past the thiefs, and 1 into charisma to get Sogg or Faith, depending on game.

It makes it a lot easier to play it this way. Hope this helps anyone.

Hey thats pretty good. My dwarf characters never have that problem at the beginning when they use guns, just the human ones. Probably because dwarves start off with a bonus to firearms skill and a tech bonus.
