Troika, the company that made Arcanum, is a break-off of Interplay, the company that made Fallout. Many of the same people who made Fallout made Arcanum.

Fallout is, in my opinion, a purely turn-based, though more realistic, version of Arcanum, minus the race picks.

They are quite similar, but Fallout is more realistic, because you load your guns, there are more specific death animations, and the clothes/guns look different on your character from one type to another, while in Arcanum, the guns all looked the same.

Fallout is the reason that 99% of Arcanum's audience bought Arcanum. Nah, I made that up, but it seems that way.

You can find both Fallout games bundled together for $10 in the discount section. If you liked Arcanum, you owe it to yourself to get the Fallouts. They're both almost universally in the top 5 games list of anyone who enjoys computer RPGs.

Or, if you're like me, you bought Arcanum because the box looked better than Diablo II, found out about this forum, found out about Fallout, and bought them a year later. Until I found this forum, I'd never even heard of Fallout. *ducks the head of cabbage* In my defense, I wasn't in the gaming scene until 2 years after FO.

bought fallout 2/1 bundle because it was only 10 bucks for 2 games, otherwise I wouldn't have given it the time of day. Anyways I loved it and then I tried more RPGs, I then ran into an Arcanum 2 demo on a PC gamer disk, at first I thought it sounded dumb, "arcanum" what kind of name is that, then I played it loved it, and then it wasn't after I beated FO and was half way through arcanum before I realized that they had many of the same creators.

WHOA!!! That is almost exactly what happened to me!!

I was looking to buy Diablo II, but my dad wouldn't let me (said Diablo means devil, which it does, so he didn't like it). I was rather upset, but I eventually got Arcanum because there was nothing better. I came home, played it for months, and then decided that some features needed to be added, such as the ability to sit in chairs and use objects better. I decided to tell the game designers about my idea. I went to the Troika site, and found the link here in it. I came and registered. Until then, I had never heard of Forum or Message Board! Anyway, about a few months ago, I finally made up my mind to get Fallout, because of all the nice talk about it around here. I would have gotten it sooner, but it didn't look interesting enough to me at the time. :D

Assuming you become filthy rich and decide to buy one, will he also stop you from buying the Lambourghini Diablo? What about a Mitsubishi Pajero, because in Spanish, Pajero means wanker.

Really, this whole business of forbidding people from getting something because of the name is just ridiculous. A name doesn't mean anything, it's what behind the name that counts. Would your Dad object to you killing Diablo, because hey, that's the point of the game? Does he not like you slaying evil fictional beasts? Honestly, you've seen the game in the store, are you going to become more corrupted if you buy it? Perhaps an entire country can be set aside for people who believe in this sort of thing (not Christianity, the forbidding of getting a [insert object here] because of the name thing) so that they can live in their own sheltered little world.

    Not a good idea, because when someone would leave that sheltered life, it would be just like in Fallout 1 & 2;

    "What do you mean?"
"What, have you lived in a hole all your life??!!"
    "Technically, yes."

And this makes it "not a good idea" because....?

Oh, I get it. You're randomly quoting and trying to rationalize it again.

    ...

I have a sudden urge to say "I rationalized your MOM!", but that would be sinking to your level.

It would also rationalise why Nbrosz is here in the first place.

Naw. I have already rationalized you, and your level is far below most people's ability to sink to.

Besides, just because you want to say "I rationalized my MOM!" and tell me what she is like, doesn't mean I want to hear it! :-o

How exactly would you rationalize a person, anyway? We're not fractions, you know.
If you'd wanted to be clever, you should've said "how exactly do you propose to sink to a level above you?"

    Misquote! Misquote! Sue for defamation!

    Aww, muffin.

    Hey, don't look at me.
    I was having fun.

By the way, you don't have to apologize in each and every thread. That's just as annoying, but I feel guilty about stomping on you for it.
