Look I don't want to start anything but MAN, what the fis up with Barrack Obama, and drone strikes and $#!7.

I don't really care about that at all. I mean, I volunteered and did some door to door for Barrack in my neighborhood, and I did some phone logging and thats so many years ago now. What I want to know is how many of you flight sim aficionados are applying for jobs are drone pilots?

Nah, just kidding, I don't care about that crap neither.

But hey, remember flight sims? Remember Flight Sim 95? Remember Windows '95? That stuff looks HILARIOUS now, and you know what else looks hilarious? Special effects from the 90's.

So that's what this thread is about, it's about forgetting the present by laughing at pictures from the past. Please post screen shots of CGI, or just clips of tragic special effects. Hell, link to Aqua's Barby Girl on youtube (don't).

I'll kick us off with a picture of Geordi Laforge being brainwashed.

We're only one post in, and already this thread is confusing.

Explanation - why think about politics when you can upset your eyeballs with the placid new age coloration of all things 90's?

I'm secretly in love with Anita Hegerland. Also, when did castrate boys become unfashionable?

Good choice but this movie came out in 1982. In order to qualify for this thread the content of a post must fall between the years of 1990 and 1999. Your image could have made the cut if you had paired it with a recommended alternate soundtrack. Preferably something along the lines of this piece.

what in the name of god is that. unfortunately the video is not available in my country and i could not find an alternate hosting of the same video. however i must admit that the song is horrendous and the performers are terrifying. is this what happens when the Welsh buy synthesizers?

    This is kind of quaint.

I was just getting nostalgic about the eighties, but I imagine you are all about a decade younger so the nineties seem like the golden age.

I saw last week a chart of Christmas song releases, and it turns out that all the shopping mall musak at Xmas is all about reconstructing childhood for baby boomers.

I guess we always think of childhood as a golden age whatever age it may be.

Personally, I think back to Sunday lunch at my oma and opa's house. Us kids would play cards and my cousin would read out interesting articles from the Sunday paper, such as Reagan's Star Wars program, and the Information Superhighway.

And, of course, the timeless 'fifteen years until a colony on mars'.

As much as I spent the time waiting for a sci fi future, I must admit that I am a 20th century man.

    Childhood was rubbish.

The high school years struck the perfect balance of freedom and responsibility. That's where my heaven lies, repeating my high school years on loop for the rest of eternity is just fine with me. I would gladly die an inebriated rake to live out the rest of time as a sober virgin. Consequently, '80s music is rubbish and '90s music is the pinnacle of the medium.

I tend to agree. 80s music was tripe and the 90s, in high school, was when I thought pop musicians really got me.

I'm prepared to accept that this was merely hormones, and that it is delusion to think that thirty years ago was actually a simpler and more wholesome time simply because my brain was undeveloped back then.

To paraphrase Homer (Simpson), it was a simpler time when all we had to worry about was total nuclear annihilation.

Sorry, for me this isn't supposed to be nostalgic. It's just things that I remember being hilarious when I first saw them, and which continue to be hilarious now, like the Mind's Eye VHS series.
