I was experimenting with some spells and I noticed that by clicking on the quick spell slot I could exit dialogue. Even confrontations, such as the Molochean hand hunters. I just clicked on the spell shortcut, dialogue ended and I wandered off without having to fight. Am I the last one to notice this?
I don't think so...but I do know that if a conversation is inherently buggy (i.e.you can't finish the dialogue once it has been started) there is no way to exit the dialogue unless you restart Arcanum. That looks very useful, but I think I'll have more fun just saying "I'd prefer to see the blood drain from your lifeless corpse!!"
The problem I always encountered with the Molochean Hand was if they split up and I chase the ones in plain robes the guy who initiated the dialogue will be somewhere off screen and he just keeps entering dialogue all the time. The solution is simple enough, either kill the boss or quickly use world map.
They always bum-rush me, so I just wait for them to charge through my army and get chopped to bits before they get to me. Sometimes changing the combat mode from turn-based to real time takes care of bugs (like when a bystander gets involved and just stands there ... forever) Nice trick with the dialog though, I'll have to try it sometime.
It's quite well-known, and this even allows you to get infinite money from guys in pubs who want you to answer a question for 500. After answering you click the spell and then infinitely answer the question "Who is the king of Cumbria?".
I've never gotten 500 from them, I always get something like 25 coins, but if I get it wrong, they get 500 of my coins.
In my case that depends on the difficulty. If you play easy you get 25 coins, regardless of what they offer. If you play hard you get 500.
I reinstalled a while ago and to be honest, I never found the difficulty setting to change the game that much, so its probably set on easy now. It was originally on hard, but I just couldn't be bothered to sum up the energy to rectify the problem.
I used to have that same problem before I patched the game. It used to piss me of, especially when they ran off with my money. And when you won, the dialog would say $500, but it was only $25! Stupid patch.
