Every time I post a wall of text, a random child dies somewhere on this beautiful blue orb.

However, the two events are not related. Death is daily part of life, and even if we did nothing, the deaths will still occur. So unless you could prevent the death, don't feel guilty about having a life. Grief for those that pass, but Live.

I was...not taking responsibility. Much as I won't take responsibility for every time you post, someone gets sexually assaulted in the US.

Xyle, I like to think of myself as Doctor Doolittle and I just thought I'd let you know: Shouting at a domesticated dog on the streets is not the voice of authority.

The easiest creature on earth to dominate is a pet dog. If you take that single incident and decide for yourself that angels have given you mystical powers over grizzly bears, then you are more deluded than I first suspected.

I'd dearly love to watch you try that trick on wild dogs, or an african elephant, or a saltwater crocodile. I tend to think that your 'voice of authority' is about as effecious as any other chimpanze howling at the moon.

ytzk's blurb motivated me to at least skim the text above, particularly the bit about rebuking bears and dogs.

For what it's worth, canines do not recognize political boundaries or property lines.

That's because whatever they pee on is theirs. Who needs a lesson in boundaries if whatever smells like you belongs to you? If anything, the random guy walking down the street needed a lesson, hence the angry dog.

Perhaps the 'voice of authority' was a result of Xyle peeing himself a little bit, According to His Will.

He must've been dehydrated, or eats a great deal of asparagus. Either case would lead to a much more potent scent than any common dog.

When I was young the PC was not even that popular yet. (time of Wizardry and even Zork) It was the c64, MSX, Atari and Amiga. Heck, I even remember Spectrum and the Atari game console. In the mid years of the 80's I got a PC computer with Hercules (green screen).

    So. How old are you?

Edit: Now I will remove some kids from the lawn.

Ah, the 386 and 486. My mother got us a 486 and my neighbor installed The Curse of Monkey Island on it.

I get it, you're a generation X-er and apparently I should have arrived at that conclusion based on your username.
In what part of the world do you grow up and to what music did you listen?

How do threads turn from seemingly curious tidbits to posts that solely revolve around Xyle? I really couldn't give a crap how old Xyle is, and more importantly I myself wouldn't try and engage people in a pointless game of "Can you guess my age? Can you, huh, can you?!?" like he is because quite frankly no one would care to know pointless inane facts about me. How does anyone benefit from knowing this about Xyle? I doubt anyone finds it interesting, it's not knowledge we're ever going to need, and no one has gained any pleasure in the knowing of it. I can't think of anything less dull than knowing more info about Xyle's opinions and/or life.

To summarise: Xyle is draining my enjoyment of initially interesting threads on this forum, he is also draining my will to live.

I dunno - I think Xyle's posts are getting more entertaining now that he's really letting fly with the outlandish stuff. His line about "if I ever meet a bear it's in for a shock when I bring out my authoritative tone of voice" had me actually laughing out loud.

    I vote we keep Xyle.

(Yes, I know the forum isn't a democracy and so my vote counts for nothing.)

Yeah but that was only one line out of the rest of the dross he posts up on an almost daily basis, rather like a tasty chocolate embedded in shit. I wouldn't mind if he could succinctly form his opinions, but he just can't and instead we get pages and pages of posts that he could have summarised mostly in a few sentences. I'm developing an index finger of iron from the almost endless scrolling I have to do just to wade past his posts.

Oh, yeah, well you shouldn't actually READ the whole lot. That's what Grossenschwamm is for.

I'm torn between keeping Xyle and banning just his account to see if he comes back.

I just want to know what Generation X music he listened to, then you can have him banned.

Just to be clear, I wasn't saying that he should be banned, I just don't like the cut of his jib. If he sorted himself out a bit then I wouldn't care what he did.
