When i goto edit the descriptions text (in the edit toolbar) it says that it cant open the descrip.mes file. Nor can it open any thing, like editing the contents of a book. I have the 1074 patch on and it did work last time i used Arcanum but now that ive just installed it, well, it doesnt work. can anyone help me fix this problem
This really belongs in the Modding and Scripting Support section if you are talking about editing the Arcanum module files, but I'll try to help. First of all, the 1074 version of the World Editor won't let you edit the Arcanum module, as far as I know. I have never bothered using it because all of the experienced modders use and recommend the 1070 version of the World Editor. Second, you can't edit mes files directly from that version of World Editor, so you should get a copy of either DJ_Unique's MesEditor or TextPad or some other good text editor to edit them with. Finally, you have to extract the appropriate mes files to edit them and be sure that you put them where they will have the appropriate effect if you are not simply adding a book to one of the game~~~.mes files. (~~~ = descrip, key, book, etc.) If you look in the Module Template directory you will see where these type files should go in the module you want to use it in. I hope this helps and is not either too detailed or lacking in detail.
No its just what i need. I think i had the 1070 patch on last time i used the editor...but then i formatted my computer and forgot to backup my mod
