I think the thing about Vietnam is the number they have when they're fully mobilized. As in, all conscripts are called for arms.

Like, our Turkish Republic can amass an army of several millions within 24 hours, up from 1 million in peacetime. And that's not considering the volunteers who'd join the army willingly, or better, people who would take up arms and take the fighting to the mountains.

P.S. The total Turkish combat power, at the height of mobilization, is about 6 million out of 20 million service-ready men, if I'm not mistaken. You'd need a full scale war to reach that number though.

I'd rather face a China in total war than a Japan in total war. They have 200 million people, still racist, still thinking they deserve to rule all Far East, and still haven't admitted to doing anything wrong in WW2. And don't forget fanatical and crazy like fuck. It's like a Nazi Germany that wasn't destroyed (in terms of thinking).

Good thing they're supporting Uighurs.

P.S. I doubt China has the required hundreds of millions of machine guns and ammunition to arms those people even basically. And a standing army that crowded is bound to receive... collateral damage. Bad thing to do when your competitors are Russia (the people who make the best bombs - see. FOAB, Tsar Bomba) and U.S. (Stealth Bombers).

China is playing smart and holds a relatively small (compared to what it *can* be), professional army armed well. China's militarization is less than U.S., even. They deserve credit.

 

Why do they need hundreds of millions of machine guns and ammunition? They send their kids to martial arts schools. If you have a billion ninjas rushing at you, you don't have enough bullets to save yourself.
