:minigun: Greetings Travelers, has anyone yet come across any literature, or spoken to anyone who has any knowledge of these elusive beings? It's simply a matter of curiosity, and I feel it might be safer to ask here than to find my answers from the keen edge of a dwarven axe.
gosh im dumb, i forgot to look at the topic title. ive asked a few dwarfs in the wheel clan and they werent happy so i stopped.
Besides the fact that they have beards (and probably that's why they hide), no. I have not played a dwarf, though. Maybe, and only maybe, if you play a dwarf you will find out more. I guess its another unknown in Arcanum.
If you ask the guy who asks you too look for his brother he'll get angry, if you ask if they have beards he may kill you. Magnus's book says that the author tried the same thing and nearly got killed. If your a dwarf and talk to the lady on the isle of despair trhe right way she'll say something about the dwarfen women having beards and you get angry. I would suppose therefore that female dwarfs do haave beards. (also in some discworld books it says that dwarfwen women have beards.)
The reason for dwarven females not to appear in Arcanum has something to do with children abscence. Don't ask me why it is so, I just remember it from some old discussion.
The reason female dwarfs dont appear in arcanum is because they only have females of minute or large races.
Dwarves hide their females, because they are often pregnant, and easy to harm. Not to mention the males can be embarassed because of their wife's beard. The male to female ratio with dwarves is 2-1. so they are pretty rare anyway.
almost everything being said here can also be found in the races section of the manual, just in case someone has any more questions
