Any of you guys played this? It looked pretty good at gamespy. I know it's just a hack and slash, RPG Type Thing (TM), not a true RPG. But hack and slash seems to be the only genre I haven't played, so I was intrigued. What do ya think?

My brother just finished it and he very rarely finishes games, so it certainly must have some appeal. He's got fair taste, but isn't a purist RP fan. If I had to guess, I'd say you're similar enough to him to enjoy it (ie. he's a retard).

I refuse to vote, btw, because your poll has the forbidden substring "cuter than Sheriff Fatman"

    Dungeon Siege is just OK.

If you have good hardware, the game is very pretty. It also has this polished feeling to it. It's sort of like Diablo except it's 3d and rather than mashing the mouse button, you only have to click it once per enemy. Sometimes it seems like the game plays itself.

I'd say it's worth maybe $10-$15 as long as there aren't any other bargain bin games like Planescape: Torment of the Fallouts that you haven't played yet.

I still haven't played Fallout. Graphics looked horrible, the screens I saw at least. I realize it's an old game. I may get it eventually. *ducks the cabbage head hurled towards him

    Milo, I have a 32mb GeForce2 Nvidia video card. 1.5 Gig P4, 256 RAM, 60 gig harddrive. It's a Dell, dude!!

Anyway... It played Morrowind fine. It only went herky-jerky one time with me, but it still coulda been a little snappier. Could I just upgrade to a, what is it now, GeForce 4? Isn't it a 64 meg card? And in doing so, I would think that would get me by for a while, wouldn't it? And how much would that card cost? Or am I just rambling useless drivel?

Didn't someone say somewhere on this forum that they once turned their DS characters on auto mode or something, went to sleep for like 8 hours, woke up, and they were still alive and kicking and progressing?

Retard, there are far better games to waste your money on - Fallout 1 and 2 (fuck the graphics, they don't look too bad once you're actually playing the game), and some others that other people here can nominate. If you want a hack'n'slash, at least get D2 because it has good cinematics.

You must play the Fallouts, man! These games are so good they don't need eye candy.

Anyway, regarding the GeForce 2... I'd stick with that for a little while longer. The next generation cards are coming soon. The only way I'd suggest buying a GeForce 4 now is if your old one is hopelessly outdated like mine was (TNT2). Once the newer cards come out, they'll probably drive down the prices of the GF4s a little.

EDIT - Oh yeah, forgot to add that you should skip the GeForce 4 MX cards since they're basically GeForce 2 cards anyway. They're clocked faster, but they don't incorporate any of the newer... advances (?) that the regular GF4s do. Oh, and the GF4s with the exception of the lowest model are 128mb.

I remember that too. I also believe it was on *whispers* another forum. A forum to do with RPGs I think? Not sure... I can't quite remember...

Now, why is everyone bagging Fallout's graphics? I'm sorry, name one other RPG where you get to riddle someon with bullets, get a nice sloshing sound as they fall over and then watch the blood poor out?

Or tear someone apart with a minigun. Can't do that in Arcanum can you huh? HUH?

I like the Fallout graphics. They fit the game nicely. Mind you, I've got broad tolerances.

I'd say the graphics fit Fallout perfectly. It has that grimy dirty look of a barren post-apocalyptic wasteland. I can't imagine the Fallout world in 3D. It just has a certain... charm. I don't know, it's like it's just meant to be 2D.

Well, lemme ask this. (Please excuse this as an ignorant question from an ignoramus.) What made Fallout so great? Seriously. I don't know anything about it other than the setting and general story. If you could, compare it to Arcanum and PS:Torment. (Two games I have played and both of which I enjoy(ed).)

OH NO! Why did you ask that question? WHY? Now everybody's going to be preparing multi-page rants about why Fallout ruled! AHHHHH

Hey. HEY. This is my 100th post!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!! I RULE!!

Actually I would've reached 100 much earlier if the forums hadn't gone down - lost half of my posts. oh well. So what's going to happen? Do I finally get rid of the irritating mace? Huh? Huh?

Sorry, i don't usually spam. But a guy's gotta cut loose once in a while.

[edit] ooh yeah, baby. A BOW! I'm a MASTER NOW!! [end edit]

What would be really funny is if Jinxed banned you for spamming. He he. "Well, hey a guy just has to cut loose every once in a while"...... :p JK. Congrats.

    [begin rant]
I just looked at some more pics of Fallout. It didn't seem that bad. I think the pics I looked at a month ago were just dark and poor quality. I'll get it. But only because it's like 10 bucks for both FO 1 and 2. Hmmm....this means I better finish PS:Torment first....Time to pick it up again. (I gave it the boot a month ago when my friend "accidently" left his Playstation at my house.) Now I've got to pick up where I left off and hope I remember what the phudge is going on. Doncha just hate picking up CRPG's after you have left off from them for a while? Guess it's kinda why I'm burnt out on RPG's right now, and it's why I've been inquiring about Dungeon Squeeg, WarCraft III and Operation Flashpoint. Just want something different. [end rant]

I probably couldn't write multiple pages about why Fallout was so great. I have a hard time explaining it, whenever i think about it's goodness my hands start to tremble :)

First of all, if you don't mind playing games that are 13 years old, download Wasteland at http://www.the-underdogs.org. Being Fallout's predecessor, it's similar in a number of ways. Sadly, the graphics in Wasteland are about one millionth of today's standards, so if that's a bother, don't bother. I don't give a damn about graphics/sounds/music myself.

I have played Arcanum (obviously), but i haven't yet gotten into PS:T. I've heard it has a very intriguing plot, and great character development, so that would make it a good game in my book if it's true. You tell me you loved those two games, and you'll definately love Fallout.

Extremely well-written story, a very good game engine (imo), Turn-Based combat(!!!) and the very SPECIAL character system. And another thing, the side quests you can do and non-plot locations you can visit are so amazingly interesting. You never feel like you're just running from one place to another undertaking boring Fed-Ex quests just to gain experience. There's stories behind the stories behind the locations, interesting NPCs and a wide range of quests, most of which you wont get on your first, nor your second playthrough. And it's all played out in a world that was bombed to kingdom come 80 years ago.

If the idea of traveling around in a post-apocalyptic world appeals to you, Fallout is the game for you. If not, it's still a good game regardless.

retard, you should not be asking why Fallout is so great. You should be playing it and finding out for yourself!

The voice acting is cool, the NPC's who follow you have personality (except for Ian, he's just a handy bullet sponge :)) and Dogmeat!!!

In case you didn't catch that:

    DOGMEAT!!!

The setting is cool, the guns are cool, the quests are cool, the locations are cool, the whole damn game is cool, you'll be cooler for playing it. Well, you/b] may not be cooler, but you get the point. It's cool.

Whew. Dunno if I could handle me being more cool. I'll get it. I promise. Hell, it's so cheap, I'm stupid not to. Maybe then I can join all of you, walking around, foaming at the mouth, chanting, "Faaaallllooooouuuuttttt. We want more Faaalllllloooooouuuuutttttttt." :D Just gotta finish Planescape: Torment first.

Speaking of Planetscape: Torment, if all goes to plan (i.e. my friend brings it) then I should have it next Tuesday, and be bathing in the radioactive glow from my monitor that it will help generate.

    I can't wait...

According to pc gamer you can get the whole fallout series on budget, i might just do that. In Arcanum you can tear someoone apart with a minigun (mechanised gun)

Yeah, really. In Fallout, you get to minigun children. And people hate you afterwards. It's great.

Planescape is a great game. It's far from fast-paced action, though. Be prepared to do a lot of reading. A lot¹.

    ¹Really. ALOT.
