Damn, I have problems with all gif animations. They don't work on my pc. And nobody ask me why because I've been trying to fix this as soon as it came up and failed. I don't know whether I'm choosing the correct smilies for their jobs...

I enlarged Du's avatar and the bitch of the program added a black background to it.
We need milo's soft touch to tackle this udder.

    Tackle or tickle?

BTW, speaking of Milo, he had a weird problem with animated gifs a while back and it turned out to be his privacy settings on his firewall (it was to do with the options that block banners, I think). Could that be your problem too?

Sorry man, I have no luck with GIFs and transparency. I just don't understand that shit. I can clean it up all nice and neat within the program, but once it's GIFed, it turns to shit. I'm sure there's a way to do it, but I don't know how. That's why Sheriff's avatar is on a black background. I tried to make it transparent, but the edges looked horrible.

My problem had to do with the Ad Blocking feature on Zone Alarm Pro. There's a little tick box there for "Animation" that was set to block. What confused me was that after I unchecked it, I still wasn't seeing all animations, just some. It turns out that all I had to do was clear my cache so the animated pics would reload. For some reason, hitting refresh didn't do the trick; It would still try to load it from cache.

    Milo, we could try this:

You see, the small version of the cow has the background transparent. When I enlarged it, it got all black. here is the original version of ms. Moo

Want Lysa to do it for you, Jinxed? She knows how to do transparent gif backgrounds. What size do you want it enlarged to?

Ok, I enlarged it to 120x120 and kept transparency. Let's see how it turns out. Like last time, when I tried to do the little gear icons, it looks ok withing Photoshop. We'll see how it looks when it's on the board.

PS - The image is gonna look a little blurrier because it's being enlarged.

And on a black background post:

Edit - Ugh. See all that white shit around the edges? I don't know how to clean that up.

Sheriff - If you could ask Lysa how to clean up the edges on transparent GIFs and forward that to me, I'd appreciate it. If it's a long, complicated process, then don't bother. But I get the feeling like there's a trick to it that I just don't know.

    Alrighty, Take Two.

I sharpened it a little and tried to clean up the edges. Let's see how this one turns out.

EDIT - WTF? How did that happen? Hmm... maybe it needs more colors or something...

    EDIT EDIT - [IMG]

EDIT EDIT EDIT - Just trying something out here: [IMG]

^^^ Wow, that didn't work. Looks like the "EDIT EDIT" one is the best I can do.

120x120 is a little to big, maybe 100x100?

And sheriff, as you can already see Milo takes up most photoshop challanges. There isn't a thing that he wouldn't at least try.

Okay, here's cow_65_take3.gif @ 100x100. Hope the resize doesn't make it more jaggy.

It's great. However, the real question is, why the hell are we spamming the smily thread? I'll cut this away and paste it into the DU thread.

Great Job milo. As always I find myself making something silly up as a thank you. :p

Found out I can't actually paste into other topics but rather create a new one. Bummer. Let's see what DU has to say about this before I change the AV again.

I can grab some funny screencaps from the Cow Fight scene in Kung Pow! Enter the Fist. I'll post them up shortly for review. There's a few funny close-ups of the cow's face. There are also a couple of The Chosen One flicking the cow's udder that might work.

Out of these three, I like the second one the best. I think the image of DU as The Chosen One saying "Moo Moo, I'm a Troika Cow!" as he twacks the teats is funny.

Milo, I don't like that second one, or the first and third, for that matter. No offence, but it just kinda gives me a bad idea about the person who wears it. Avatars and sigs mean what the person is like to me. Example: I imagine you as a computer whiz that wears a tophat and has a cane. I imagine S_F as a police officer from the old texas days because of the look of the badge. I imagine Jar as a grandpa, because of his avatar.

BTW, could you make ME an avatar? Make something with gears, metal, and other things that are simple mechanics stuff with an old look to them. Kinda like the look Arcanum gives that stuff: not the brand new complex stuff of today, kinda old and simple. Thanks.

I thought the avatars you made a little while back with the gears were very good. Better than what I could do.

Regarding avatars in general, I view them a little differently than you do. There just a thing to me and I don't pay attention to them once I've identified a certain pic with a user. I'd rather have a funny or dorky avatar than one that supposedly represents me as a real person. The only reason that I have the one I have now is because I saw a series of pics from the Minister of Silly Walks skit on Monty Python and I wanted to see if I could do anything with them with Image Ready. I don't even really like it now. The white background bothers me and doesn't fit well with the Terra Arcanum background. The animation is also annoying. It draws my eyes to it. If I had the choice now, I'd rather do something else or have no avatar at all. No avatar and a post count of -9999 would be awesome.

I would still love it if you could make me an avatar with 3 spinning gears (with texture, lighting, and realistic color, if possible) that would either move, or would be the frames to make it move. I could add transparancy, if you made the background a solid color, or just made the background transparent from the start.

Those gears I made are garbage. They are flat, badly colored, the pixels ram each other, and they have some white spots. You could do way better if you tried, especially if you made S_F's avatar!

Would that be all, sir? Are you sure you wouldn't like some fries with that?

Seriously, nbrosz, you're overestimating my skill. I fiddle around with Photoshop, that's it. I was serious when I said I probably couldn't do much better than the gears you made. In order to do the stuff you outlined above, I'd have to learn skills that I don't have. At this time, I'm not willing to spend a whole lot of time learning Photoshop or 3d modeling stuff, sorry.

Nope. Someone I know from another forum uses the guy attacking the cow teats. I'd start having an identity crisis and think I was him.

I myself, am pretty fantastic at transparency. Superb even. It's really not that hard. You just have to fill the background with one colour, say bright pink, then where-ever the option is, set that bright pink as the transparent colour.

Macromedia Fireworks is great for that stuff (version 3 is what I use). You just export and can click on the colours you want to be made transparent. PSP version 4 has an option when you "save as" to make the current selected background colour transparent. The option iis in the lower right of the "save as" menu, a button with "options" on it or something like that from memory.

I'll see what I can do with the image myself, perhaps tweak the size a little and smooth the eges up. Some good ol' pixel by pixel work.
