It leaked that's for sure, I just got it from a friend of mine and run it. I only played for some 2 minutes due to utter lack of time and here're my really first impressions.

    - Sound's ok
    - Large pixels are visible especially on close ups, still I never saw better graphic overall.
    - It did resemble a slideshow when a monster attacked me but hell it's only alpha. It didn't crash even once which I can't say about a number of other, even final releases, games. Besides rumor has it that this Alpha leaked from ATI, were it true it were being optimised for Radeons not GFs. And besides those attacks performance is really good - I have high hopes of the final game running w/o problems on my puter - at least when there won't be too many enemies around.

If I play more and find out that someone wants to discuss this thingie I'll write more.

I saw this floating around on Usenet a week or so ago, but I didn't download it. Partly because the binaries were all broken :( , and partly because I want to wait until there's a leaked beta. I read that the leaked alpha really isn't optimized at all and runs at a snail's pace on even the top-end comps now. Also, I'm not all that interested right now. My anticipation will probably ramp up the closer Doom 3 gets to going gold.

Not true, my puter definitely isn't a top-end. Of course it depends which end do you mean :) It's good to get a first glimpse of it especially that the E3 movie was not to well visible

I am lucky to have a fpp maniac friend - he took the time to download all the 50 files. I just copied them from a cd he gave me so it didn't require too much effort from me. :D

I have a link which leads to a rar file. Don't know if it still works but it weights 300 megs. I didn't run it. I like to be surprised. Besides that, most of you guys don't have consoles. I've seen great graphics ever since ps2 came out. Not all games but some are amazing. It will be at least a year or two before the pc catches up.

Even though you can assemble a pc which we'll be by far and large better than any console. That's one thing I really hate.
