does this happen to everyone?

I'm a (relatively) new arcanum player and, having downloaded the latest patch, have been thoroughly enjoying playing the game. I had read that the character level was capped at 50 so you can imagine my surprise now that I'm level 52. Unfortunately I can't find anybody to fight so as to level up some more...
So I was just wondering if this kinda thing happens when you download the patch, or if it's a lucky glitch?

 

Well, it never happend to me, except after I downloaded a mod which raised the maximum level to over 100.

 

That could be it. Maybe you've downloaded a patch with the level-cap remover in it?
