Since you only get roughly 10% exp when a follower hits, this could be used to not level up as fast as if you were killing things. In this game I'm working on now, I'm trying to get the followers all around the same level as I am, but that stupid mine place gets me 4 levels and I only want to gain 1 level to be at lvl 15 to gete chukka. If I run the game in real time and let everybody else do the killing I believe I can accomplish this. My thoughts are maybe they will get mad at me for not joining in on the fun with them. Has anyone ever tried this to see if..... like....... they revolt! Before I go back to a saved game before the mines and try it myself. Parmanian
Followers, to my knowledge, do not get mad at you for not helping them. I sometimes sneak off because I don't want to get killed, and I can't remember my followers getting mad at me for that.
I didn't think they would but you just don't know them programmers out there to hit you with a loop that when you find out its too late. Parmanian
The followers do get annoyed at you when you're acting too cowardly- as in running away form the field of the battle. I had Dante telling me off for leaving him alone to fight the Temporal Crusher (I wanted the beast to kill him so I would resurrect him later and raise his reaction this way). BUT you can avoid it by standing like an idiot in the middle of the fight and not doing anything. Just stand where you are and do nothing, while your followers kill the enemy. Or you could make their work easier by throwing grenades- you don't get any experience for damage done by them, or by Corrosive acid. You most likely also won't get experience for poisoning your opponents. If you're magic, use spells that don't do any direct damage.
I don't think that's entirely true. I've noticed the experience bar moving up when doing damage with Molotovs, electrocution grenades, and concussion grenades. Other grenades may give you damage experience as well, but those are the only ones I specifically remember since I seem to use them most often.
You gain EX for the critters killed, not damage done. To avoid leveling up in the BMC mines, avoid side paths & the vilage level. Even so, unless you do the whole thing solo, on speed, screaming & running like a girl the whole way, it is hard to gain less than three levels.
EXP bar moving forward when you throw Molotov? I think I have checked it out and haven't noticed that. Maybe it was when you did enough damage to kill the creature? You still get experience for killing the creature. But you definitely don't get any experneice for damage done with corrosive acid. Or you could use Stun grenades.
I'm sure you get points for both. Throw an electrocution grenade into a mob of somethings and watch the bar rise. They hardly ever do enough damage to kill anything but kite scouts so you know it's damage experience. In one of the games I've got now I'm using the "improved orc encounter" hack. The chief orc drops craploads of grenades after level 25 or so. Lots to play around with.
Thrown lots of them. If I have a game with Sebastian on this machine, I'll throw a fer more & check again. Mods change unintendend things.
I don't think it could have changed anything related to damage xp, but I'll check it in a non-modded game when the spirit moves me.
well I tried it and my party of 4 +dog went to the bmc lvl 14. I let them do all the hitting and killing and we came out lvl 15 (which got me the two points I needed for charisma 16) almost 16. It was neat to watch these guys (and gal) go after the baddies, healing themselves and not even caring if I was around. I then went and got chukka from bates with the empty slot. Worked out the way I hoped it would. I believe if I went in lvl 13 I would still have come out lvl 15. Parmanian
as you may have read in another thread a while ago i tried to finish the game at the lowest level i could, i used this exact strategy, and finished it at 24. my most recent accomplishment is finishing it at level 22. anyone else finished as early as this?
heck, I haven't even thought of finishing the game yet. I just keep working on the ins and outs of getting this party together to go on. The next is to pick up a couple of different mages and go from there. Hard drive getting full with all these different save games I'm making... hehehehehe. Parmanian
a very good character ive tried is a very charismatic thief. you dont need any points in melee or anything. just get pickpocket up for getting good items. put persuasion up. that way you can talk your way out of most battles, and the ones you have to do can be fought by your followers. you wont level up very fast though.
I'm sorta playing a persuive charasmatic electric explosives lockpicker pickpocketing melee thrower. Parmanian
IMHO, Other skills like gambling and haggling(mages) are being neglected. It solves your money problem for you so you dont need thief skills.
RMV, topics here move very quickly, and get their questions answered very quickly as well. While it's not a big deal in some of the other forums here, please don't pull this thread up after 9 days.
As far as money goes in this game there is far too much available without waisting points in hasggle and gambling. There is far better skills to put your points in. Pickpocketing is a must (just don't become a master in it (hehe) for all the thieving quests. as for lockpicking you can always have dog bust down the doors and chests but that makes noise. Parmanian
