I've finally finished the UT3 map tutorials was wondering if anyone would like me to make a map set in and around the Tarant train station. I probably wont start (or at least do much of it) until uni finishes for this semester, but if anyone's interested, let me know.

Wow, that's... innovative for sure. I wonder how many Unreal Tournament competitors would actually know what that map would be from.

That's why I asked here instead of on a UT3 map site :p Now that I've finished making and testing my first (non-tutorial) map for UT3, I feel a lot more comfortable with the editor now, so I might begin a lot sooner. Before I do though, is it possible to take screen shots in Arcanum? Otherwise I'll hunt around for sites with images of Tarant.

I'll also be making some 3D models based on the train and carriages, but first I have to figure out how (if it's possible) to import 3D models into the editor from 3DS max.

    Update: 12-04-2009

Couldn't find any images of the station on the web. Would anyone know websites that have pictures of the Tarant train station?

I know it's possible to take screen shots in the game, because many posters did that during the "Dwarf-Mage" challenge.

Oh ok, cool. Never heard of the Dwarf-Mage challenge, but I can guess :p. Now here's hopping some of my old saves are still there, I don't want to have too level up in order to take a few screen shots...

I'd jump in and take some for you right now, but I'm on a different machine. Sorry.

That's ok, thanks for your offer though, I greatly appreciate it. In a stroke of luck I've recently discovered that I do indeed have one of my old save files where I can look at the station, so I've taken like a million and one pictures of it. The only problem is that there's this square building between the main station and tracks which is blocked by an iron door.

My character doesn't have magic or lock picking so I might have to level up a Mage to get disintegrate to see what's inside. I've got enough pics to get me going though and I've made a decent start on the map. I might resort to making very simple versions of the train in the UT3 editor because the help section on the UT3 website doesn't include information on how to export a 3DS max model to UT3. Well... it does have a section entitled that, but it doesn't include any helpful information reguarding how to set up the model to be exported and what tool is needed to export to the correct file format.

If I do find a way though, it's going to be crazy making the train and carriages. Before I looked at them closely, I never appreciated the loving detailed work the makers of this game put into the appearance of objects in their world. It's really quite breath taking.

Use something like ImageShack and use the links that site provides once it uploaded the pic from your pc.

Next: post the link between the [IMG] tags.

    Done.

Ooooooooooh. Kinda makes me wish I played that game now. The thought of running around Tarant Station with a futuristic shotgun makes me happy. *plots*

They all come with the game. There is a tutorial I think for making your own in UT3, but I haven't looked at it yet.
