But if it's posted all over, I have no incentive to fix the technical issue. Also if I fixed the technical issue after it's posted all over, the post will appear multiple times in various forums...

Then of course it would mean deleting the first FAQ posts. Or just leaving the whole fixing if it isn't that necessary. My proposition can be seen as either a permanent round about solution, or a temporal solution in case the technical fix is too time wasting and/or hard at the moment.

What about placing a thread in each of the ten forums, that opens/leads to the FAQ of Xiao? So you don't have to copy this FAQ at all the forums.

Hey, it could be worse. We could be linking the newbies to Sonic the Hedgehog fanfic starring Doctor Eggman.

It's either gravedig or go unheard, the latter being unthinkable.

I'm probably more forgiving than the average Lord here, but how about some policy against using the quote feature when one is replying to the previous post? Exceptions would include responding to an especially long post where certain points might need to be explicitly highlighted, of course.

By God's thumbs why do people quote the previous one-sentence post? How short are our memories?

I find it funny that you break a rule to complain about something that isn't a rule.

As long as the irony doesn't prevent the discussion of the issue, I can accept that.

Then you'd get people replying to a post 3 pages back without giving a reference to what the hell they're replying to. Attention spans are short enough. Or, more accurately, other people won't know what the hell you're replying to.
    That's a joke right?

If a post is 3 pages back, that's a reasonable use of the quote feature. I should be able to refer to your last post--as I am--without explicitly repeating the passage to which I'm replying.

Then why did you quote JustaFishInaJar's post?

My guesses are the whole topic being a joke, or that quotation being an unexpected self-own. I hope for the latter.

Was the fact his remark was ironic supposed exist, or did it become ironic due to the way he worded it, without his meaning for things to be ironic?

I think the irony has successfully prevented the discussion of the issue... so what now?

    What now? Rerail this train!
I quoted JaFiaJ's post to illustrate my point. It was obvious that I was responding to him as opposed to anybody else, so quoting him should have just been received as obnoxious.

As opposed to quoting you, Drog. Your post being a few posts deep made quoting you more sensible. To me, repeating your question is more efficient than typing "@Drog Black Tooth" and requiring those following along to scroll back to reread your post.

Is unnecessary quoting obnoxious enough to be discouraged?

It doesn't bother me when the last post was quoted. Plus I think it is too ingrained in us to stop doing it completely. On the one hand though you have made everyone think about it and most might make a conscious effort to limit how much they do it. I mean look at me. No quotes to respond to your post.

But like all resolutions I will most likely go back to my old quoting ways.

Also I think you should be punished for gravedigging. You should carry a shovel where ever you go for 1 day using the honor system. Or at least wear a silly hat.
