Hi , I made it to Blackroot and there I found that Dante guy and I was pretty happy , coz I saw he's nice and I thought he was a healer. The problem is this - when he joins me not only that he doesn't heal me without telling him to , but even Virgil stopped healing me. I do have followers skills enabled , but there is something wrong. Does anyone knows why's that ? I'd also like to ask if I leave Virgil will I fuck up the quest without him - the one about meeting his religious tutor ? And in general if I leave a follower behind will he wait for me forever or after some time it would be impossible to rejoin ?
What's your tech aptitude? Virgil and the other magickal healers won't try to heal you as often as your tech aptitude goes up. Keep Virgil stocked with bandages and he'll use his neutral healing skill on you. How long followers wait depends on your charisma and persuasion, I believe. If you make them wait too long their reaction might go down, or they might just leave. If you don't like Virgil just tell him to get lost.
My tech apptitude is between 40 and 50. That shouldn't be the reason , because after having Dante in the party Virgil is not just healing me more seldom , he's not healing me at all. So far I haven't given him any bandages and everything was quite ok , but I'll give it a try. Are you sure that going to Stillwater to meet Virgil's teacher without Virgil himself won't be a problem ?
40-50 tech IS a huge problem as far as Virgil's concerned. He could try to heal you until he passes out and it wouldn't do you much good. I'd go for the bandages. You will get to Stillwater with or without Virgil. Not to spoil you too much, but without Virgil you'll never meet Joachim. Strictly speaking though, finding Joachim isn't a quest, so you can't fail in it if that's what you were worried about.
Cool. It is finally clear to me what has actually happened. So the lack of healing is not Dante's fault. The reason for that is probably becoming expert in picklocks just after joining Dante and fighting the thieves. I'll leave Dante and get on with Virgil , coz Dante seems like a nicer fighter but he only has the magic type of healing. Is there any way to make Virgil become apprentice in healing ? Or is there another character having higher healing skill that would join me later in the game ? It's really nice to have a healer. Buying potions is too frustrating I think.
You could always choose the Educator background, but then YOU'D have to become a healer in order to train Virgil.... Anyway, he eventually gets a full five points in healing, and does just fine as far as I'm concerned. And there's Jayna in Dernholm, she studies Herbology and Therapeutics, and healing as well. But she's not voiced like Virgil, bit of a bore if you ask me. You could always make the healing jacket, or steal one from Sebastian a bit later in the game.
Virgil forever ! Oh man , I'm so happy that you said the thing for the five healing points. When I saw Virgil leveling and not gaining any points at all I thought that he's gonna stay like that till the end of the game and his skills won't improve at all. I thought that followers don't get any skill points at all. I was in Dernholm , but I don't think that I met a Jayna there. Is there anything specific I should in order to have her join me ?
She's in a little shack, in the south of the city near the docks, if I recall correctly. I just think you have to be polite, have a tech aptitude higher than 10 or so, and have a good alignment. Oh, I think there's a level requirement, but bugger if I remember what it is. Seven or eight maybe, nothing too high.
IIRC, you need to only be level 5 for her to join you. she makes excellent drugs for you later on and she starts off being able to make healing salves and fatigue restores. absolutely crucial to a tech character.
Gaaaa!!!!!!! Stop calling her "crucial"!!!!! "Handy", certainly. "Convenient", perhaps, depending on how well you can keep her stocked. But definitely not "crucial"!!!!! Oh, and definitely "boring" and "hideous". Definitely.
Don't ditch Dante. Have him wait & rejoin & he is a free follower. Or let him rejoin the stupid king's service. As his MA goes up, he can heal people who are more tech. He is a coward & a racist, but he is a fast man with a Major Heal spell.
I'm yet to figure out what you gain by letting Dante rejoin king Praetor. You don't get a fate point, that's for sure. Maybe you get a reputation, like after stopping the bank robbery in the Shrouded Hole...
Dante as Worthless Mutt and Jormund is a free follower. But unlike Worthless Mutt you need a free slot to make Dante join... if you don't have room for him, tell one of your followers to wait, then ask Dante to join, and when you ask your follower to re-join he won't count Dante as as if he were in the party.
Almost right Lagash. You must ask Dante & Jormund to wait & rejoin. Untill they do that, they do take a slot.
Ah, yes! I knew something looked weird! It's just that I've never had Dante for a whole game, I just return him to Cumbria. And as for Jormund......... the staff of Xoranth is more worthy than him! (not that the staff of Xoranth is useless, eh?).
