DKoepp (anyone remember him?) is starting a new campaign. It's 11 am to 3 pm EST on Mondays, D&D 3.5 in a custom world. You need an aim account or some other messaging system that lets you into AOL chatrooms. Hopefully it will be a 5 character party, I'm the only one playing as of yet, which, if you can subtract, means we have 4 openings. So if you want to play, get in touch with me. Reliability is far more important than experience; we'll show you the ropes, you just have to show up.

I believe he's talking about a D&D RP via AOL.

Aah, DKoepp, the maker of the arcanum characheter editor. Say, when is the 1.9 version coming?

    D&D, Dungeons and Dragons.

And maybe we should work on that sometime... but regardless, you people should come kill monsters with me. Via AOL.

    ....

I'd rather kill homeless people and use their corpses to feed other homeless people at the shelter, but I suppose a nice game of fantasy roleplay could be enjoyable as well.

I will try to be present.

Well, you need to give me your aim first so that you can talk to DKoepp about a character. Besides, since the world is of his design, he can tell you more about it.

We can teach you, it's just like acting with dice and swords. My aim is roaminggnome969, you can send me an IM, private message me, because you all know I'm a board whore, or whatever, and we'll set something up.

That´s exactly what scares me from trying. Dices. It all seems so damn complicated.

It can be if you approach it wrong. But it doesn't have to be.

Think we're full, we have 5 players including myself. 3 mages, 1 rogue, and a psychic warrior. Hopefully we don't get... you know... hurt.

I think what your party needs is a bard. Just an observation of mine.

every party needs a cleric, but no one wants such a crappy job. they're the postal workers of the dungeons and dragons universe...

I don't particularly care for divine magic, even though with the way rosen put it I could eventually go postal for amusement.

A cleric character could extort the party for quite a bit of money however.

" Whatta I look like, your mommy? That'll be fifty gold coins you lousy mage bastard. "

Clerics are likely the most powerful characters in the game. Pick the War domain and you'll be pretty damn close to the fighter in terms of combat effectiveness, especially when buffs are factored in. And you get divine magic. And turn undead. And healing/harm spells with no need to prepare in advance. Overkill.

I once played as a lone elven cleric of Corellon in Iron Man ToEE. Made it pretty damn far.

Mages can deal more damage, but they can't wear armor either. Clerics definately rock. Although there are a few ways to effectively kill them, but no class is invincible. As a dm I reject half those exalted and fiendish feats that end up with rule-abused titans, can't stand rule lawyers sometimes.

What you really need is a good necromancer. If you go down in a fight, you could be brought back as an undead corpse. Sure, you'd probably take a big hit to your charisma points, what with the rotting flesh and the stench of death on you, and you'd most likely be attacked on sight at any settlements, and your intelligence points would also plummit (lets face it, zombies aren't the smartest guys around), and... Ok, mabey a cleric would be a good idea.

I'm under the impression that evil clerics make the best necromancers anyway. So there.
