Hi, I'm starting over to fix some things which I didn't like in my last playthrough. I'd like some suggestions on how to improve my character build, where to put my points, and how to save some maybe. Right now, the plan is to start a human female with the Beat with an Ugly Stick background. I plan to spend 8 points in Willpower and 8 points in Charisma. I plan to max herbology, therapeutics, mechanics and smithy. I plan to get the strength of earth and teleport spells. I plan to get 2 points in melee, 2 in dodge, 2 in firearms, 1 in persuasion. I plan to use a machined platemail, 2 charged rings, trapmaker spectacles and jewel of hebe. I plan to use a Brain Builder and a Vivifier. I plan to get the blessing of Velorien, the blessing of the priestess of geshtianna in Stillwater, the blessing of madame toussaude in Tarant and the +5 reaction blessing from the beginning. This way, by level 50, I end up with: 12 Strength / 20 after casting strength of earth twice on myself 9 Constitution (3 heal rate, can keep both spells on forever and then some) 20 Dexterity 5 Beauty (with a +20 reaction dress, it's as if I had 9 in Beauty) 10 Intelligence (20 with a pot, enough to learn any schematic. When pots stop working because my tech aptitute gets too high, I can still craft anything using manuals) 12 Perception (18 with temporary therapeutics, in case I need to shoot something) 18 Willpower (for Teleport. In the beginning, I'll be using the staff of k'an t'au; then, when my tech aptitute gets too high, it will stop working) 20 Charisma (followers never leave, max number of followers) Master Dodge (2 points + blessing) Master Melee (2 points + blessing) Master Firearms (2 points + blessing) Master Persuasion (1 point + ring of influence + potion is enough, and I'm aware of no point in the game where a full 5 points in persuasion are needed for anything, so 4 + master is good) Expert Backstab (0 points, just blessing of moorindal + shadow hand dagger) Expert Pickpocket (just the final blessing) With this build, I end up with 7 leftover points. I was thinking that maybe I could max out Backstab, and keep it at 5, to get some more damage. Another possibility is getting Repair to 5, to repair equipment, med arachnids and automatons in the field without having to port back to Caladon. Going around with automatons and arachnids in your inventory is very bothersome because they weight a ton (literally) and by leaving them around at low health they'll die, so I'll have to save often and load often, which is bothersome. I have no idea what to do with the last 2 points, except maybe for maxing out pickpocket, but is pickpocket at 5 really necessary? I have no idea because I don't have much experience with the skill. So yea, comments, opinions, ideas and suggestions on how to save more points would be very nice!
I'm a fan of the Electrical Discipline and would suggest you apply your points there. Getting Pickpocket to 5 seems like a waste because I've gleaned from other users that mastering Pickpocket to plant items is not worth the trouble.
Plus if you do the Gods of Arcanum "quest", the Final Blessing gives Pickpocket +3 (out of 5 or +12 out of 20).
