What does everyone think of the Legendary Goat Sucker? I'm all for "There's a bunch of earth still left unexplored," or "there are still a lot of animals we don't know about," but an animal as big as the chupacabra that lives off of blood alone...sounds a bit silly to me.

That's because you haven't seen those terrible red eyes glowing in the dead of night, shining with lust for blood!

Oh, but I did! Turns out, it was just a rabid cat that had a metabolism disorder.

Blood containing as few nutrients as it does it's physiologically unlikely that Chalupacabra exists. However, if pseudoscience is more than crap, that shouldn't matter, and also, being that we know jack shit about this alleged creature, it could supplement it's diet on more substantial fare.

Curse you biology, for being the double edged sword you are! I hate how it adds and takes credence away from the same thing. The absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence.

    The Nocturnal Goatsucker, eh?

I played Trivial Pursuit with one last night.

    And it won.

We had the Chupacabra(s) over here, a couple of years ago. Some people in the hinterland started to find their cattle dead and dry. Then the thing stopped (probably because someone was killed somewhere else in a more horrid manner and that story was more interesting).

But the Goat Sucker is supposed to be a type of vampire, right? I mean a bat.

This reminds me of the member Chalupa Cobra (don't really remember who it was, but remember the name), and then Bunny links to an old explain your name thread in the other topic, and Chalupa Cobra is mentioned! :-o

(My text got a little bit too long so the shock in it didn't really translate well into writing.)

It's just the Mexican version of the cattle mutilations that happened back in the day (which were blamed on aliens at the time). Combination of drunken hicks and wild animal kills.
But we can't know for sure. There are just too many places for it to hide. That is until deforestation and pollution have turned Mexico into a barren wasteland. So we might know some time next Wednesday.

Ok, I popped back in here to see how the topic was holding up, and I saw that one person voted yes. If you're serious, tell me your reason for the Chupacabra's existance.

Blood sucking bats are different. They weigh less than a pound, and need far less nutrients than something as large as our friend the chupacabra. They do, however, need to consume quite a bit of blood whenever they feed.

That's why Scotsmen hate El Chupacabre! It consumes entire sheep flocks when it feeds!
