So I picked up Sogg Mead Mug super late in the game. I need another bruiser and have exactly one spot left. Problem is he's level 2. No problem, I'll just use this savegame editor I found to advance him so he's closer to appropriate. Problem is, the editor doesn't recognize him. It's the editor on the site here, version 1.8; the readme says it USED to have trouble recognizing both Sogg and Virgil, but it's still not recognizing them for me. I was using the official patch before, and I've since added the unofficial patch to try and fix it. No dice. Suggestions? I just want the dude to be an appropriate level.
Run through really easy places with him in the party? I think he gets experience just from being in the party, but my memory isn't good. At all.
There seriously should be a mod elevating the level of all of the followers to the Living One's level, say, in the moment they are being recruited or rerecruited. Such a jewel would make so many things more enjoyable, it's unspeakable.
Similar Problem Similar Problem Where is new NPC in the game save file? /////////////////// Using 1.8 editor to tweak tech NPC's. Sampling as many tech items as possible. Have started a mod in the middle of my first play through-s. Balance? Still need the whole party to take out 1 level 30 Blue Orc Berserker ... before PC gets hacked into hamburger. With editor, borrowing from Melee, Dodge, and Prowling, then increasing Intelligence and the character's chosen tech specialty. Going over level 4. The NPC auto character builder picks up and continues the characters' predestined development after my intercession. Dodge and Melee eventually get to 5. Magnus becomes a super-techie, a Dotor Zarkov, the true son of his Clan. So, tweaking stats, skills, and tech disciplines, not adding to hit points or fatigue like the auto builder might. ////////////////////// Appears that new NPC's are not seen by the editor until they level with the PC. 4too
Re: Similar Problem This. You need to level at least once after getting him in your party before the editor will find him. Hope you're not level 50. (Although you could just reduce your level by one.) Of course I may be wrong, it's been a few years since I've used the editor.
It would reduce the need for metagaming. I'm horribly anal retentive about being at the exact same level as the people I recruit, sometimes going great pains to achieve this.
I find I don't mind if the character is a few levels lower than my PC, it adds a sort of realism of unique experiences of the characters. That being said anything more than 5 levels lower is just annoying.
He's over on RPGCodex with another account, -apparently- he's working on Dragon Age now as it has 'more C&C than Arcanum'. The Codex is more elitist (and quite frankly, more frustrating) than this place so I don't know of any details or anything. Wonder who he's roleplaying as now.
As much as I like going there for shits and giggles, I would sooner die than see this place devolve into the KKKodex.
It is a simple fix to get him on the same level as you. If you use hex editing or character editing. Just put yourself back to level one then play your game. Your level is changed to one but your experience is the same so you instantaneously gain all the levels you had back and along with this your followers will gain levels. Thus Smog will be on the same level as you. As a disclaimer, I have tested this with hex editing only. I am unsure of the results with using a character editing program.
oh hai I love you too. As for the OP's question. In version 1.0.7.4/UAP you continue gaining XP even after reaching lvl 50, the game just resets you back to lvl 50 once you reach lvl 51. This was done to let you continue leveling your followers once you reach the level cap yourself. So yeah, if you're already "super late" in the game then just continue grinding random encounters or, better, use Virgil's debug menu or the cheat enabler to give yourself XP.
That would be actually quite a good option if Virgil's debug menu was available late in the game, but after T'sen Ang Virgil turns into either Zen Virgil or Surly Virgil and, sadly, none of them have the debug menu in their dialogue tree. Would you, by any chance, consider changing that?
Sorry, but that would mean porting all new lines to two more dialogs/scripts. That's plenty of work. Ideally, I should isolate the debug lines into a new dialog/script and then just make all three Virgils call it when needed. Just use the cheat mode enabler. It gives you a level with a single press of Y button.
