Turns out the Character Editor 1.8 is not compatible with UAP Patch... So I tried to Edit the characters with Hex Workshop.. Nothing to do... It seems that even finding the bits that identifies Characters, I was quite unable to relocate other bits... Some Help finding a working editor? or identifying the bits related my character? Thanks ^^ P.S.: By the way, Hello to everybody! this is my first post! ^^
I haven't the fuckest where to put this, but not where you did. Here it is. What're you trying to hex edit characters for? And no, there isn't one, if 1.8 won't do it.
Actually I posted it there because two post lower there were a thread about how to make work the Character Editor 1.8 under vista, so i thought mine could fit to... sorry. Anyway I'm moddng the game to make my own modification and often I need to test modifications inside the game.. To do so I' ve to alter the statistic, level, skills and known techs of a character higher and lower and the only option i have is to make a new game each time and train the character with the standard method... This is quite not funny and an enormous waste of time.. I should acces to Race, Statistic, level, as most important and after that to skills and techs... More or less the same thing the 1.8 character editor was able to do before the UAP...
You could always try this. It seems to offer a lot of what you are after, though if you're modding the game you might not have access to Virgil.
It doesn't. I successfully used it for my tech party to remove useless skills from followers. Only thing that bugged is an Isle of Despair arena, which doesn't want to progress after 1st fight, but I think the problem lies somewhere else.
Ok, Actually I' ve installed several mods.. 1) the 0stone Weight Ammos 2) the Virgil' s cheat Menu option 3) the 127 leve progression 4) New Background and Effects; 5) many new portraits (but actually this should be irrelevant...) as well as the Hig Resolution Patch and the High Qquality Town Maps I supposed the problem was related to the UAP because i' ve installed the UAP as the last one (obvoiously I had to uninstall the HRP to install the UAP end reinstalled right after) and until the UAP wwasn' t installed the Character editor seemed to work perfectly... right after dht eUAP addition to the other mods.. the Character editor could not work anymore... So that' s why I supposed the problem was the UAP... Also I' m pretty sure that I read somewhere that the tfaf saved before the UAP installation would not work after... so I Assumed it was the UAP that had changed the tfaf configuration... Do someone know why is not working anymore? Wich of the installed mods alter the configuration of the tfaf files unough to prevent the CharEd to work correctly? @jojobobo: I was inexplicably using the older version... thank for the tip
PROBLEM SOLVED PROBLEM SOLVED Because you claimed that the Character Editor 8.1 should work even with the UAP I started to think that all the modifications I had done had been done before the UAP installation, so I decided to reinstall a new clean folder arcanum from 0, inserting the UAP, first, by adding my mods later. As I imagined the problem was all there, now the Character Editor is operating normally. Thank you for helping ^ ^
I simply reversed the order of installation, after which I used the files extracted from. Dat UAP, rather than those taken from the original version of Arcanum, as the basis for my changes: Probably put the original file from Arcanum3.dat, although modified by me, created conflict with the Arcanum5.dat from the UAP.
