Hey all , new guy here (well i lurked a bit).

I recently saved over my level 50 Elven Evil Warriormage (eew?) , nearly busted the computer and started a Bandit who's royally screwed by the aptitude balance (had to get past the ore golems with Dog aka "barkiwinyou'redead")

    Here he is:

    Human , Miracle Operation
    3 Firearms
    5 Picklocks
    2 Pickpocket
    3 Persuasion

    Ok , about the skills.
    - 3 Firearms and 2 pickpocket: Planning ahead for the final blessing
Question: Is this viable? Will i be able to make it to the final blessing shrine with just expert status in my only combat skill?

    - 5 Pick Locks: I wasn't planning on doing this , but i desperatly need to raise tech aptitude without raising int , and it suits the bandit scheme well enough.
Question: Will Firearms and Pick Locks bump my aptitude high enough? Should i take some lower level schematics?

Persuation is entirely too much fun not to take , given the Miracle Operation bonus and Toussaude's Blessing.

Now , about stats. If i remember correctly , Charged Rings will raise Dexterity +2 each , plus the final blessings +3 bonus means i wouldn't have to spend any cp's to get to the backround cap of 17.
Will the rings bump dex over this c(r)ap?

Perception up to 25 with +2 (i think) of the Goggled Helmet/Helmet of Vision/Whatever Else. Help? Advice?

Well this is running real long , hope i get some replies :)

    A little off-base, but hey..

In five or more games, I've YET to receive Toussade's blessing. Even tho I did the crystal ball quest. I've tried talking to Toussade before Beston, but that didn't seem to make any difference. I apparently missed something somewhere.

Sounds like an interesting character scheme. I'm too much of a novice with the game to say if it's viable. Even tho I've played several games, and although I never actually finished one, I've gotten as far as the Void. I restarted after realizing I blew the chance to free Arronax, and true to the game system, I wound up with a completely different character.

You need to do the stolen painting quest before the crystal ball quest to get the Gypsy Blessing.

I don't know how much fun you'll have planning your whole character around the final blessing like that. Sounds like a good idea, but once you get it the game's nearly over and you won't have much opportunity to enjoy your new skills. I suppose you could walk around in circles (very slowly given your low DX, heh) forcing all the altar locations ahead of their time, if that's your thing....

I don't think there's much point to raising your PE to 25, honestly. Actually, even having 20 PE doesn't seem to give any tangible benefit (yes, I know what it's supposed to do, that's beside the point). 18 PE works just fine.

    Reply..

Yep go to 57 Mulligan Alley before delivering the cristal ball (how sad is it that i know the address).

Well.. i guess the challenge is the reason for the goal , have a "best character ever" of sorts. If it becomes difficult to the point of being unnerving though , it sort of defeats the purpose of the game.

About the dexterity , since you've said its low , i'm assuming the charged rings won't give me any bonus over 17.

My old elf warrior used Strength of Earth to effectively nullify the Race penalty (and save a couple of cp's at it) , that's why i asked.

Edit: Oh lord, i just realised the mistake i made , the characters backround is Charlatan's Protege! So sorry , forget about the preception deal , i knew there was something wrong.

Ahh...so she gives you the blessing in lieu of the tip on the painting. Roleplay-wise that seems a little off. Tarant's a big city. (assuming you've never done it before) Where else does one find clues as to the painting's whereabouts? Of course, as I said, I am a bit of a novice.

    Non-Spoiler:

Pay attention to the dialogue with the woman whose painting got stolen. She talks about her husband being a loudmouth after a few drinks.

    SPOILER ***** RED ALERT (etc.)

Talk to the Guard at the Gentlemen's Club , he'll give you a list (for a few coin) of all people who were in the club the night the painting got stolen.
Go check on the hall of records for the Guests address :)

Incidentally , if you accept to take the small quest the shady elf in the bar gives you (take a note to the warehouse district) , the recipient of the letter is in fact who stole the painting. (look at the passport he's carrying).

On the floor of the Gentelman's Club there is a coppy of the paper with the story about the painting in it. Also, the paperboys have back issues. I found the painting quest the first time by going house to house & talking to everyone.

For some reason, they wouldn't let my PC in the club, & she was pissed at the MCPs.

You know what a Gentlemen's Club is right? No ladies?

Well there is a rather uncorteous , but effective , way to get in...

Of course I know that, She thought it was a place to meet gentelmen. That one was rather niave.

Nonsense, one should always be corteous when pickpocketing. :D [/quote]

That's strange , why would Rorry need the adress of his own warehouse?

Oh shady , i was thinking of a slightly more.. shall we say EXHAUSTIVE way of acess to the club...

With THAT & pay him for the "privlige" as well? The nice ones leave him alive. The 1/2 Orc barbarian, even though she was good.... And you should see what her evil twin did to him.

With enough BE & persuasion, you can charm him out of the note & leave him drooling, waiting for your return.

My good female PCs almost all leave Mr Wellington alive. The polite evil ones as well. I have a pair of 1/2 Orc Barbarian females, One good, one evil. Quick to anger or take insult. For some reason, they have little trouble from mashers in bars....

Does that make my last post any clearer?

Did I mention that I have a lot of games running at the same time?
