    Lets see who is who in the painted world of Arcanum

    Humans:
    Male1: ok thats definately Gerard Depardieu
    Male2: cant figure out
    Male3: steampunked Elrond, there is always one Elrond in all these games..
    Male4: Thats Trotsky http://dikigoros.150m.com/trotski.jpg

    Female1: hmm looks like Bette Midler
    Female2: cant figure out
    Female3: ok thats Jodie Foster
    Female4: another Jodie Foster

    Elves:
    Male1: looks familiar, but cant figure out
    Male2: total mystery
    Male3: looks familiar, but cant figure out
    Male4: looks familiar, but cant figure out
    All younger actors.

    Female1: Kirsten Dunst
    Female2: dno
    Female3: dno
    Female4, looks familiar, but also has a very generic face, so could be either way.

    Half-elves:
    Male1: dno
    Male2: ok thats the guy from The Gangs Of NY. The evil one.
    Male3: looks familiar
    Male4: total mystery

    Female1-4: total mystery. Nr2 does look like some german 1930 actress though.

    What you say, recognize someone?

    A lot of the portraits are based on Troika employees, a few are historical figures and the rest are just original compositions.

    Also, one of the gnome portraits is based on Ambrose Burnside.

    Disturbingly, the portraits based on Troika employees are almost exclusively half-orcs.

    hmm i do recall Baldurs Gate 1 doing the same thing, guess its inherited.

    I'd do the same. If I'd made an RPG and hired an artist to paint the character portraits, I'd be more than willing to let them base said portraits on me and my staff to add some more tangible personal touch to the game.
