Have you ever felt that the Good-vs-Bad ending videos are a bit one-dimensional? Ever tried to make a montage of end-results that reflects your character's world view for better or worse? Please tell me about it. My most satisfying efforts to this end were about utterly undoing the technological revolution while keeping everything rosy for the wizards and elves. An elf with allignment 100 and the love of Raven might seem like a goody two shoes, but we all know Raven is an elf supremacist at heart, even if she is too politik to advertise it, and deforestation is the real evil in Arcanum. So, I left the Shrouded Hills mine haunted: Take that rational industry! I converted Blackroot to Cumbria, and returned Maximillion to the throne: Nice to have one magick kingdom around. Gilbert Bates, supervillain; he had to die. Pity Caladon joined forces with Tarant, because the whole kingdom collapses and is left to the Orcish gangs and unionists: Now that's the flavour of civilisation. As for Loghaire, sorry old man, the dwarven way is an environmental risk, you have to die too. The insane lizard folk? Leave them be, they count as wildlife and deserve the blood of poachers, not a lesson in civilised diplomacy. Arronax? He went soft in the void, he had to die to prevent the resurrection of Vendigroth. Did I miss anyone? The result is a miserable selection of gloomy endings for the peoples of Arcanum, but a quiet victory for the greenies and dark elves alike. Anyone else got an example?
lol True, Dark Elf, that would have been better. I guess I was role playing more of a radical conservationist than a wizard-supremacist. The ending video of them lurking in their swamp seemed so much more satisfying than them in shiney, sparkly elf-land. By the way, should I have put a big spoiler warning on this thread?
