Changing the colors

Ooooh I can switch to SubSilver again.

Some time ago I bitched about forum skins and got restricted to the very nice T-A skin by a very nice admin or mod.

Also...

 

Okay, as you all know, I wanted to come and post here, so I asked that you change the forum colors to make it less noticeable at my work, however my request was met with derision and, eventually, a flat refusal. Frankly I was very disappointed in all of you and was on the verge of leaving, but luckily I found that switching the color scheme to "subSilver" achieved the desired effect, so I went ahead and did that.

However, I now find that when messages are quoted (e.g. in people's signatures, or in Frigo's post above) they show up as white on white. This makes them difficult to read. And by "difficult" I mean "impossible". I'd really like to join this forum and converse with you all, but not being able to see what people are quoting makes me feel like you are trying to hide things from me, and I believe that the basis of a solid relationship is communication, so I'm sure you can see where I'm coming from.

The upshot of all this is - please could you change the quote colours to something that is readable? I now realise that asking you to change the entire forum just for me was a bit much, but I'm confident you will find this small change much more palatable.

If you would have just changed that last "Thanks" to a big ol' "Fuck all of you" it would have made that quote-translation (which he apparently can't see and is incapable of highlighting) even more true.

Ah... I can highlight the quotes to read them. Clever.

Hmm... though it is a little tedious to have to do that for every single one. And I detect a certain level of resistance to my idea of changing the forum colors. So how about a compromise? You could add a button to each page, called something like "The Smuel Button", which would automatically select all the quoted text, thus making it readable. Then I can just click that button when I see that there is quoted text on the page, instead of having to click and drag the mouse around each one.

I really feel we're making progress here.

 

I just checked out the subSilver layout... why the hell would anyone want that? It's so bloody ugly it made my eyes hurt.

 

I don't know, perhaps Smuel wants to look at something that is just as ugly as him.

I suggest a compromise: That you work during work hours instead, and enjoy the lurid mahogany motif of HoL at home where it won't cause such a scandal.

 

I don't want the subSilver color scheme - what I want is some kind of Microsoft Word color scheme. The subSilver one is just a better approximation to it than the default.

Firstly, that's just crazy talk. Secondly, I don't currently have internet access at home. Or even a working computer. So I don't have much choice other than to post here at work. I mean... ha ha... apart from... ha ha ha... I could... aha ha... I could NOT POST AT ALL!!! HA HA HA HA HA!

You're right, of course - I'm not actually much of a troll. This was just my way of introducing myself.

It would be nice if you could fix the "large pictures makes the whole thread go wide" problem though. I believe there is a phpBB update that does that. Otherwise I have to drag the scroll bar back and forth to read subsequent posts, and that gets real old real fast.
