You know what really scares the bejeesus out of me in Australian politics? The Family First party. They're only small, but they've got the most draconian proposed policies. They basically want to revert Australia to some sort of medieval-like society, with no freedom of choice. These guys are ultra-conservatives, and while I may mostly support conservative policies, I have enough of a sprinkling of left-wing in me to keep me realistic. About the only natural right every person has is freedom of choice, and this party wants to eliminate a few choice ones of mine. On the other hand, they've got some positives, but the negatives are far worse.

The US government is not all-powerful. Being the "most powerful nation on Earth" is completely different from "all-powerful government." I would think you would be able to see that. It's not just the government that makes this country strong, which is why I said "we" are the most powerful. The government does not have complete control over the citizens, nor does it control the rest of the world.

I am against corruption in government, as anyone should be. But I am realistic enough to know that it's impossible for there not to be any. But reducing the power of the government would logically reduce the corruption. If power corrupts, then less power would mean less corruption, right?
