So I just bought bullets from the Gun Smithy in Tarant and...

    I can't view it. Huh...

I have the Unofficial Patch, High Quality Townmaps and Audio patches, all installed after the latest official patch.

    Any ideas?

Did you read it already? I find that sometimes when I learn schematics they can be tricky to find. I think bullets is under 'chemistry'. If that's not what your problem is, then I'm not sure.

I remember finding the bullet schematic to be not worth it, anyways, since it is cheaper and easier to buy bullets than the materials to forge them.

Er, obvious but also make sure you click on the 'found schematics' button in the viewer.

I know I've forgotten to do that a couple of times...

You can't read it as in a) the schematic won't disappear when you drag it to the action/use-toggle in your inventory, or as in b) it does disappear but you can't find it in the schematic viewer?

Hmm? Charcoal can be found in dustbins, and the saltpeter costs 20 gold, that's 1 gold per bullet. (Or 2, dont' remember if you got 10 ocr 20 bullets, but I think it was 20.) If you dont' have haggle, bullets cost 4-5 apiece.

It was 20 bullets. Not worth spending the time on grinding up with those.

Carrying Electrolyte Solutions and Metal Plates while wielding a Tesla Gun, however, is VERY practical (lighter to carry around AND 50 batteries a pop). And Tesla Gun is awesome, like anything Tesla.

Well, since money is not a problem later on, it is perhaps more convenient to simply buy the bullets, but in the beginning it saves a lot of money.

    Money is *never* a problem.

    --- GAME BEGINNING SPOILER ---

Go to Ristezze's(?) shop, wait until night *inside*, follow Ristezze immediately while the door to his leeping room is open. Then save the game, activate prowl, and pickpocket his key.

Now everytime you come to Shrouded Hills, if you directly go to Ristezze's chest instead of talking to him, you get free money. Minimum 500, and maximum around 3-4k. Requires no pickpocket skill too.

--- SPOILERISH, AS NOT QUITE BUT STILL ---

Money is not much of a problem, even without the silly cheat trick with Ristezze. I would disapprove doing the trick Masteut mentions, because every game loses a part of it's soul after money ceases to be an issue, becoming less challenging and more boring. It's good to have that point as late in the game as possible.

But if one wants to cheat money anyway, why bother with Ristezze and the need to visit Shrouded Hills over and over again for a mere few thousand coins each time? Why not install Virgil's debug mode and ask him for nearly infinite coins at the very Crash Site? Yes, it's hacking the game, but it's no different from any in-game cheating.

As for bullets, the schematic is not for creating bullets instead of buying them. It's for having bullets from both barter and schematic. It's for having the very most bullets possible. Have you people ever used the mechanised gun?

I tried it, found that it burned through my bullets like a blowtorch, while not doing notable damage. I have always favoured the looking-glass rifle myself.

This one suprises me. I also tried it only once, decided that there not enough bullets in the world to use it as a main weapon, but god did I feel powerful.

That gun seemed always too slow for me. I don't remember my gun progression, but I recall that my last four looked pretty much like this:
Droch's Warbringer > Tesla Gun > Long Range Pistol > Hand Cannon
That was in 1070 though, I believe that some patch (1074 or UAP) increased the Hand Cannon's power so that I wouldn't exchange it for a Long Range Pistol anymore. Not to mention how I love the graphical effect of a hand Cannon's shot. Ah, simply beautiful.

It's not really cheating though - It's making use of thieving mechanics in game. Not much different from a thief character prowling and unlocking chests with 10k+ gold in them in Tarantian shops... Not my fault Ristezze made a key of it. Also, cheating = getting advantage of debug tools and console commands, or in-game bugs to gain an advantage. Ristezze's isn't really cheating.

    Debug mode is, however =)

Also, Mechanized Gun = Awesomeness. Only if it didn't spend so much ammo *sigh*... Well, that's why we have A:WIP, right? :)

It's a matter or semantics, but I still see it as a cheat, only an in-game one, just like the pre-UAP 0 AP molotov coctail throw cost. Troika made it possible to steal only 100 coins at a time for a reason, apparently they didn't want money to be that easily stealable. They gave Ristezze the key so a character wouldn't get stuck after killing him and before hearing about the Schuylers, I don't think they expected that infinite money trick and wanted it to exist.

Also, in real life if Ristezze would see that his money is disappearing from his chest every day, he would find a new bloody chest, wouldn't he? The trick is an abuse of the fact that Arcanum isn't as well organised and real life is. At least that's how I feel when I do it, but I'm not everyone's conscience and I'm not telling everyone how they should play, I'm just explaining my view.

One day I am finally going to try out A:WIP, and that day I will day from an overdose of awesome, it seems.

The moment you start feeling overwhelmed, run up to the Spider Cave. It's bad enough to prevent awesome overload.

Do not take this the wrong way now, rroyo, but you definetly got that right. I love your work and all, but that place got me thinking pretty dark thoughts. Too big. Too bloody big.

That said, A:WIP (or is it "forgotten places of Arcanum?) is awesome.
