i sure as hell am. i visit like 3 web sites everyonce in a while, and this forum a hell of a lot. i think its prolly because i'm not playing any gmaes with large mod communities, (or at least ones where you hafta visit a ton of sites b/c you dont automatically dl them when you play)
i've been playing fallout 2, arcanum, tribes 2, and warcraft 3 a little bit
but i dont think thats the problem, i just think the internet is starting to become a little less exciting an idea. i visit homestarrunner.com everyonce in a while, newgrounds.com, & something awful once in a while, and google if i ever need to see anything else.

oh and www.threebrain.com a little bit too.

but never the less its boring... probably because i dont have a credit card so i cant make online purchases... anyone have any suggestions? stuff i could do? good forums other than this one?

I know this is really going to sound stupid but... Try Diablo 2...
And if you like it then get the expansion...I know its not troika but its good old Satan killin' action. And the multiplayer has almost 800 people playing every day... Thats a hit for ya! ;)

Was that the name of your character? That's nice.

It's always heartening to see boys roleplaying female characters instead of going macho all the time. It's much more fun to play bitchy, as far as I'm concerned.

As for being bored of the Internet.... Just accept that it's an overhyped medium and go read a book already. :)

Hmm... Well necromancer are the most suckiest of all characters in diablo anyway. if that didn't help try playing the elder scroll series I highly recommend Daggerfall. Its kinda old (96) but going to this classic has helped me free myself of internet boredome and think! so many classes to choose from even make your own!!! its the best first ever first person rpg I have ever play in my entire existance. (stick that in your pipe and smoke it everquest!) It may have old 3d graphics and bugs... but hey! what would we do without patches? Trust me try this one and get used to all the controls once you find out more about this game the more hooked you get... if only it was multiplayer.... ahh wha.... what was I saying? :???:

Just wait until ToEE hits the shelves and you'll have plenty to do when you get bored with the internet.

In the meantime Sleek, shouldn't you be driving? When I got my driving license, I was as driving-horny as it's humanly possible (I already had the car, so...) :hump:

Considering that gasoline is practically given away for free were you live, you've got no viable excuse for not taking the car on completely meaningless rides.

Speaking of the Elder Scrolls series, have you tried Morrowind? It's great. I think that is the best first person RPG i've ever tried. You are free to do what you please, and can follow or not the main storyline as you please and when you please. The graphics are stunning. It's an huge world where you can lose yourself for hours. And, if you like it, you can get the two expansions and create/download mods. You won't be bored.

The problem with Morrowind as I see it is that it's too big and too open. You often find yourself skulking around in the middle of nowere asking yourself "what the &%#¤* am I doing?"

Another huge problem is the NPC interaction. That's one of the things they botched - NPC:s just don't have any personality whatsoever, not even those that are quest-important. Besides, I just can't stand Fargoth...

You can have followers, but only temporary ones, without voicing and everything...

Frankly, you spend 99% of the game gaining levels and collecting equipment.

The setting is cool though, and I like the system with different factions. Graphic is a blast, so is the greater part of the sound. All in all, a pretty good game if you're in a hack&slash mood and have enormous amounts of free time, but nothing I would recommend if you're in for an in-dept game with a strory-driven campaign.

actually all necromancers in diablo 2 are male, i just thought the name was appropriate for the character model and mode of combat i chose... (i concentrated on maxing out poisoned dagger, and bone shield for early stats, (plus a few bone mages and a few points in the skill that boosts raised followers quality) then i spent points getting the minimum requirements for the raise dead spell that raises the actual creature, not just a skeleton, and fire golem, and bone wriath. id didnt necessarily max them all out, but i did a fuck load of poison damage, bone shield is awesome, and my followers rocked). i had a little touble with him at the begining, but as soon as i hit level 20 i was doing pretty well, it is hack and slash after all, so i was content at doing something like 20 damage per hit plus 250 poison damage, with a little cold damage from my dagger to slow em down. bone shield is awesome too, its a life saver when you're swamped with creatures. the only problem i had with this strategy was that i had few useful followers at the early levels so i had to keep a shitload of mana potions with me at all times to fuel my bone shield and poison dagger...

ok enough about diablo 2. as for books i've read six terry pratchett novels in the last 3 weeks (at the behest of this forum).

yes i am an avid player of morrowind but i cant download mods or install the expansion for incriminating reasons... i've always played as a redguard with lockpick, longblade, light armor, and hide as my main stats, and marksman, acrobatics, dodge, and some other shit i cant remember for minor stats ( i think i might have picked some personality stats ) but whatever. i'm basically an uber/fighter thief. i never really thought of it as a hack and slash game though... a lot of stuff you can do is diplomatic/subterfuge which is a lot of what i've done (er, did, my char and save games got deleted due to my little brothers ignorance) but alas, it was fun stealing a full suit of glass armor at level 10. i picked the shadow as my sign. which rocks, i look at it as one free attempt to swipe something from a shopkeepers shelf per day.

oh well, may be i should go buy battlefield 1942 to replace my tribes addiction... i hear there is going to be a jet pack in the new expansion anyway... so how different could it be?

But... Artemis is the huntress of the gods, patroness of mothers, in general a protector of the small and helpless. Why do you see her running around with a poisoned dagger?

Your necromancer was a transvestite, wasn't he. That's okay, we're all special in our own way. :)

Artemis was the goddess of the hunt in Greek mythology. She and her twin, Apollo, were my favorite of the Greek gods.

Sleek, you've read Terry Pratchett? I have some of the Discworld books and one from another series, and they're all great. I love his books. They're all so funny and witty. I've read and reread them and I still laugh. :)

yeah, i think theres a lot of hidden sociopolitical messages too, even though thats clearly not his main intent, but he still put it in there.

as for the name i've heard it used for males and i've seen it in books as a male character's name... anyone read those forgotten realm books at all? drizzt do'urden's archnemesis is a dude named artemis. then there are all those artemis fowl (cough cough harry potter rip off) books, about a male character named artemis. so i guess we're both write. or may be we just come from different dimensions and the aurora borealis if fucking with the internet and we can communicate through time and space thanks to this forum's server being in close proximity to all the electro-magnetic radiation!

No, it's just that you, Salvatore, the other kids' author, and every other teenaged boy who calls himself Artemis in a chat room because he wants to sound menacing, are all collectively wrong.

Artemis is a feminine name, the name of an ancient Greek goddess. The twin sister of Apollo. The object of worship at one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, ferchrissake. (You've heard of that, of course?) Just because one hack writer starts using it for his male character doesn't make it acceptable. It makes him even more of a hack (unless his character is a closet transsexual and I just haven't read that one), and it makes all the people who follow his lead ridiculous.

This is one of those trends that responsible people should call a stop to, before it gets out of hand. Remember what happened to the name Dylan? Crazy American parents are naming their daughters Dylan now! All because that hippie didn't think "Robert Zimmerman" would look good on a record cover! I'd say that people are sheep if I didn't have so much respect for sheep.

I've got a dog named Artemis, btw. A female dog. She is the Protector of Bunnies and All Things Fluffy, and the Bane of the Evil and Deranged. :bunny:

I've also got a cat named Wolfie. He's known as the Destroyer of Nations for his gleeful violence. I'm a big fan of descriptive titles.

You probably already know this but... Windows XP is pushing out dos! :-o Yes! And I can't play Daggerfall, Stonekeep, or Realms of the Haunting my most favorite games in the entire existance of mankind! I would like to know if anyone know where I can fix this problem? (Don't say Patches I've spent many headaches looking for them and there are none! )

Oh yea is it just me or is there something about jinx that has befallen me? maybe its this damn rain! :x

I have noticed this problem with WindowsXP and DOS as well. I can't play the old, old Forgotten Realms Classics. Like Mezzoberranzan and I just had a brain-fart so I can't think of another one right now(and the games are in storage so NO I am not just going to look on the case)!

I like playing characters that buck the norm. My best so far is an female elven ranger that is not hacked/modded with a lvl 127 patch(I'm going to write a walkthough for this class). She has excellent ranged skills, decent melee abilities, some really useful magic, and enough social skills to be worth noticing. I created the idealistic "hero" group. Since she is my jack-of-all-trades, I have a mage, a fighter/warrior, an archer, and a dog.

Not too bad if I do say so myself--------------->
Sleek you could try Throne of Darkness, or Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom, both excellent Sierra games!

Don't bother with Emperor, unless you really enjoy the Civ style of gaming, but even then be warned i played it for a few days and it left me with a feeling of.... huh?, what?,. whilst i'm on the topic of games i've just bought Homeworld2 and i've played it for a bit (2-3 hrs), but is that it with this game?, i mean it's just a 3d C&C.... that's it..... unless i've missed something i think i just blew $90. Oh well, atleast i got directX 9.0 from it.

homeworld 2 is out???? i need to re-subscribe to pc gamer... i dont know anything.

dude i loved homeworld, that was a great strategy game.

if you want a REALLY different strategy game go get Scrafice. its fucking amazing. the graphics are beautiful AND bizarre and unique (and personally i think its the first example of a video game i find artistic visually) and the gameplay is great (multiple paths depending on which gods you align yourself with, and wich missions you pick) and the evel editor is completely easy to use (much easier than arcanum's...).

its just a graeat game in general, and due to its minor success can now be found in bargain bins for around 4-10 american dollars.
