If I use the level 1 fire spell to kick my dex from 8 to 12, then learn melee levels 2 and 3, will I be at an effective melee level 3 when it wears off? will I be at an effective melee level 3 if I recast agility of fire? Anybody got any experience with that? -Richard.
Any skills or abilities you buy that depend on a temporarily enhanced stat will disappear when the enhancement ends BUT you won't have wasted that CP, because the skills or whatever will reappear when the stat returns to the higher level (either through enhancement again or natural levelling up). Hope that answers your question satisfactorily.
Ok, makes sense. The only thing that was worrying me was that I wasn't seeing a % to-hit change as I boosted dex from 8->12 (with a corresponding melee from 1-3 increase)...unless to-hit isn't the number in the spiral to the left of the monster's picture. -Richard.
Your to hit chance is in your invintory screen under you equiped items. You resistances, ac, and damages are there too. I think the % on monsters when you attack is how the monster is affected by the enviroment?
Anony, you may not be getting a better chance to hit if your perception is low. It could also be because in the demo there was a problem with chance to hit being lower in light than in dark places. This was caused by many things and Tim Cain said they were fixed now. Try, next time you level, to save the game and raise your perception and see if it changes. Then post the results here if you would, please.
I may try the perception thing out with the HEX save game. If perception is that key in melee combat, expert melee becomes more of a priority than I thought, and educator possibly as well... -Richard.
Same deal Amos - you'd lose the Expert training bonus when the boost wore off but you wouldn't 'forget' the training. Next time you boosted your dex or raised it 'naturally' your training bonus would return. It's like a trained soldier who is sick - he might not be able to fight to his full potential but once he recovers he still has his training and skills.
