Is anybody else here a board game fan? Here's a list of my collection:

    Twilight Imperium + Expansions
    Battlestar Galactica + Expansions
    Game of Thrones (Second Edition)
    Resistance
    Panic Station
    War of the Ring
    Red November
    City of Thieves
    Eminent Domain
(Soon) REX: Last Days of An Empire

I mostly made this thread to ask:

    http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/99770/arcanum

Has anyone played this? Does it have anything at all to do with the themes in our favourite CRPG set in the 1800s?

I stumbled across this game before, never played it. Possibly heard of it while here or while searching for other arcanum stuff. No, it's got nothing to do with Arcanum: OSAMO.

The word arcanum has a definition of "deep mystery" but is rarely used in modern speech, though for that reason any two games called Arcanum might be assumed related.

My brother is a fairly avid board game colletor and has his own boardgame geek account. I normally end up playing them when I visit, he has:

Arkham Horror (+ most of the expansions)
Summoner Wars (a card game, but on a board; various expansions but not the Master's Set)
Blood Bowl: Team Manager (a boxed card game, thought it was worth a mention though as I remember reading that DE used to play Mordheim)
    Vampire: Prince of the City
Gears of War: The Board Game
    Fresco
    Seven Wonders
    Carcassonne

+ a great deal more that I can't remember. He also kickstarts a great many. Me personally though, I don't really have the space for many so all I currently own is Cranium.

I was recently introduced to Puerto Rico. It seemed strange and a bit arbitrary at first, but ultimately it surprised me with its depth of strategy.

I don't own any board games though, other than chess.

Jojo: I thought that Arkham Horror is not available anymore, or has your brother bought it years ago?

Did you know that they made a board game of Mansions of Madness?

Looks like it's still available to me, at least in the UK; but yeah he got it probably about 4 years ago I think.

And no I did not know that, I'll suggest it to him and see if he's interested.

As an aside, another game that I forgot I own is Atmosfear - it's the new DVD version, not quite as good as the VHS versions I used to play as a kid. Still, it's enjoyable.

Arkham Horror is hugely popular (I don't like it myself), and thus both constantly in print and in possession of a massive number of expansions. Getting your hands on it is easy.

I'm not sure if the board game version of Mansions of Madness is the same as in the Call of Cthulu RPG book. The book version is good. (I rather recommend Masks Of Nyarlathotep if you want a truly classic CoC book.)

There was awhile that Arkham Horror was not available anymore. That was because of bankruptcies or something of the company. I assume that it must be more than four years that this has happened.

There's nothing I like more than a truly classic CoC book.

It's not the same. Different company and format.
