With E3 over, the game sites are starting to put up their reviews, impressions and giant stabs in the dark about what they thought was the best. Hollywood (Activision's PR guy) has been kind enough to hand feed them to us.

Gamers with Jobs are first, they gave Bloodlines game of the show:

Game of the Show – Vampire: The Maquerade – Bloodlines - This was a hard call for me. Halo 2 probably comes in a somewhat close second, but my limited exposure to that game whetted my appetite, but didn’t show me anything significantly new. It was an awesome round of CTF, but it was still basically CTF with some nice vehicles and dual wielding. Half-Life 2’s footage looked fantastic, but with nothing playable on the floor I just can’t give it the nod. Vampire, however, showed off Valve Source engine in a fully realized city, displayed multiple environments, hinted at some fantastic visual and gameplay effects, displayed a complete character creation and development system, and touched on the story to come. It was as complete a package as is practical at E3, and everything about the game screams quality.

Just RPG are second. They gave a screensaver their best RPG of the show award but Bloodlines gets an honourable mention:

PC RPG - E3 2004
BEST PC RPG: Dungeon Siege II (Microsoft)
HONORABLE MENTION: Vampire: The Masquerade-Bloodlines (Activision)

Tom's Hardware are up next, giving Bloodlines their best RPG of E3:

The Best of E3, Role-playing Games.
Winner: Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines with its first-person take on both the eccentricities of role playing and the madness of vampirism may have the story, graphics and gameplay to consume your time and attention like a couple of well placed Cuspids. Expose your neck this fall to see if you agree that Bloodlines is worthy of Tom's Best RPG of Show. Look for our earlier E3 coverage for more on this title.

Yahoo! Games Domain gave Bloodlines a 3rd rated honourable mention (I mean really, how many honourable mentions can you give?):

Best Role-Playing Game: Jade Empire

Honorable Mentions:
* Paper Mario 2
* The Bard's Tale
* Vampire the Masquerade - Bloodlines
* Dragon Age

... and finally, Games Critics Awards have nominated Bloodlines for Best RPG along with four others, but won't be announcing their winners until June the 8th. Needless to say, I've never really heard of them before so I'll probably forget about it when it comes time to finding out who won. Oh well.

Nominations: Best Role Playing Game
- Fable (Big Blue Box/Microsoft for Xbox)
- Final Fantasy XII (Square-Enix for PlayStation 2)
- Jade Empire (Bioware/Microsoft for Xbox)
- Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords
(Obsidian/LucasArts for PC/Xbox)
- Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines (Troika Games/Activision for PC)

On the good side, at least most places managed to recognise Bloodlines as an RPG and not as a Soft-Core Interactive Porno.
