I'm in the Black Mountain Mines and noticed a few things. Those mechanical traps that damage armour are nasty on my Arcane Robes and Virgil's Magic Robes. I am using the sence trap scrolls found on the thievs' bodies, but running through the mines, I tend to miss some and wham, armour damage. I fixed the armour damage part by dumping all our stuff in the chest on level 2 by the furnaces and only wearing the leather armour found on the bodies. Now I try to set Always Run to off and it keeps resetting to on, I cannot walk anywhere. I have the game patched. Is this an issue that was never resolved or can it just not be changed mid-game. Is there a shortcut key to make my guy walk. Fallout you would hit shift and you could walk. Does Arcanum have this option?

    Numberlock toggles the Always Run/Walk.

Yeah, those traps are nasty. There have been a few that have killed me outright by stepping on them of activating them on chests. Unfortunately, there isn't any real way around them, other than those scrolls or an insanely high find traps skill, which is hard to get at that point in the game.

On a sad/pathetic note, I've been through those mines so many times on my 20+ characters that I practically have the location of 80% of those traps memorized and can simply avoid them. God, I need to finish this game....

That's probably the only place in the whole fucking game where points spent in the Divination college actually comes around as a sound investment.

Well, you have plenty of detect trap spells lying around just for this opportunity.

There's still not enough of them to cover every trap. I tend to save them for the last corridor.

Also, I think the rest of the party should fucking understand there are traps too, instead of gleefully running straight into every trap I detect.

equipping them with flow spectrometers and enough batteries makes 'em see and avoid traps.

That's all fine and dandy if you go tech. So far the 2 times I tried to go with tech I gave up on it. the first I just started over, the second I tried to lean towards Mellee but was to late to do it so I quit again.

I have only played mellee and mage so far but have yet to finish the game with any. Going through Black Mountain with my mellee party of Me, Sogg, Virgil, Magnus, and Dog was a piece of cake with just the scrolls.

My latest mage attempt was going well untill all of a sudden my guy is standing there in his scivvies, the Arcane robes that took so long to get destroyed. Thus came the idea for using the leather armour and the start off this whole thread. Although I never expected it to so many replies.

yeah, the guard leather from corpses, I'll switch to that every time too. Leather armor is too valuable as a component for healing jackets, and healing jackets only need to be worn after combat anyways.
