Thank you Qilikital for keeping up the good fight against the spammer infidels. :p

Sheriff will probably say the same thing about Beckham.....well....

Yeah, how do you explain Beckham?

ALthough, I hafta admit, I think our dear AssMan is correct that nothing associated with England is stupid, since they are incapable of stupidity. I mean, hey, look they had the Spice Girls, didn't they? They're not stupid, they're great!! Also they have Liz Hurley! Also Hugh Grant, the Monkees, and they have gone a long way towards making bad teeth a fad. I would say they're not stupid.

There's too many to list on The Darwin Awards. Hilarious. Have a look - the old ones are generally better than the new. Living on Zionist Time is great, but I can't remember any others. Try 1996-2001. Enjoy.

Beckham is a footballing genius. How could a non-footballing nation be expected to understand that? It's stupid to even attept it.

    *silent squirms in discomfort*

    *remembers Gazza and squirms harder*

You know what my problem is with labelling people "footballing geniuses"? Their inconsistency. Sure, the player *may* be extraordinarily skilful, but to me it seems like they're also inconsistent. I know they have flashes of brilliances, but in between all that it just seems like they're waiting for their next bit of pot luck.

In other sports, players need to consistently perform to be selected in teams. Not so in football (or as I like to call it, "soccer") - someone just has to score a hat-trick to be in that team for the rest of the season. And to score the hat-trick they sometimes just have to be running, trip over their own feet, have the ball land in front of them, and nudge it forward, and they start celebrating like they've just run it from half-way, beaten all the players and smashed it in from an impossible angle. Look at France - wins the World Cup in 98, can't score a single goal in 2002. Team full of superstars couldn't do shit. I'm just saying...

Anyway, back on topic, I think soccer is stupid :).

Clearly you mean non-UK soccer. To claim otherwise would be stupid.

The worst thing about soccer is the fans - Jar, I think you know the ones :) .

Tracksuits, caps, a superiority complex and one hell of an annoying Greek accent.

Ahem. Apart from that, I enjoy playing soccer (not as much as cricket and hockey...mmm). I was stuck playing volleyball for the past semester.

I'm not saying soccer isn't fun to play. It is...actually, it's one of those games where it doesn't really matter how good you are, up to a certain point. Of course, frustration is indirectly proportional, due to your lack of ability to pull off cool moves, but it's still fun trying :).

Sheriff, watching England at the World Cup, they didn't impress me in the slightest. I didn't say "Wow, cool move, Beckham really IS a superstar" or anything along those lines once. I did laugh at David Seamen though, when Ronaldinho scored that great goal of his. THAT was skill :).

I'd say that not being impressed by a team that got through to the semis is just plain stupid, particularly when Aus were ensconced at home with their funny shaped balls.

Sheriff, they barely scraped through. I wasn't impressed at all - 3 goals in 4 or 5 games isn't that great. Particularly not when 1 was off a penalty. For all their "star power" in Beckham, Owens and the like, they still didn't accomplish much. Sure, they did get to the semi's, but they struggled.

Roberto Carlos' free kick in one of the early rounds was amazing. It's one of those things where it doesn't matter who you're barracking for - you still cheer.

Anyway, the 'soccer people' might be able to help me out here - what was the name of the Columbian goalie in the 70's (all I know is that he played alongside Escobar - man, that 'Escobar's Own Goal' story was tragic) and used to show off A LOT, e.g flipping his feet over his head to stop a ball coming straight to his chest. Anyone know?

How many of the matches did you watch from start to finish? I watched most of them (except the Nigeria game) and was impressed with several. I'm most certainly not a Beckham fan, but he definitely answered his critics with his World Cup performances. Don't forget, we got knocked out by the eventual winners, and stood up to them better than most.

Anyway, this thread is about stupidity, not football. You're not off topic yet, but you will be if you start agreeing with me.

I can't believe what the hell is going on in the good ol' US of A. Some crazy shoots six people with a high powered rifle last week, enjoys the weekend and gets right back to business first thing Monday morning. I'm telling you man, I'm about ready to move to Canada.

The person doing these killings truly is beyond stupidity. Beyond humanity, I'd say. Sniping a child is about as low as anyone could get.

I asked my latin teacher today about ancient greek olympics... they sounded vicious. I think the only rules were no eye goudging ... and something else. I've forgotten it though. Also, I assume that they were doing all this wrestling and stuff naked... -shudders-....

I'm not really sure what this has to do with anything though.

I know of this one story i found very funny. It's something like this:

A robber walks into a gas station, asks for a pack of cigarettes and puts a $20 bill on the counter. The clerk opens the register, and the customer pulls out a gun and tells him to put all the money from the register on the counter. The clerk, scared shitless, complies and throws all the bills and coins onto the counter. The robber grabs it all and runs off into the night. However, he left the $20 on the counter. There was about $15 in the register

This one is one of my all time favorites.

If the other rule wasn't "no nut crunching" it goes beyond vicious into inhumane.

The Whole world is going throught the normal every 1000 year bit that the world is going to end. The hundred years leading up it get worst as the thousand year mark get nearly. In the last centry thing in general got worst not better. The next hundred year thing will slowly get better. The last 10 year of the century before the thousand year are the worst. The first ten years of the century after the thousand year show very little change from the
peak reach in the last 10 years of the century before the thousand year.
That what GOD told in the 1980's. In the 1000 AD Europe went into than pancie as veryone thought the world was going to end. The samething happen in 2000 AD. Look at all the books that came out about the END TIME of the Christian Funder. say we are in. Some of those books GOD fround very funny to read as they are so false.
