    Not your best work, floyd.

No, I was looking for "abhorable", but seeing as how it is not actually a word, "deplorable" would do.

I blame dictionary.reference.com for not listing all variants of a word with the entry of the variant's root.
I blame myself for not explicitly checking Xiao_Caity's suggestion against the web site's search function.
Thank you both for the edification.

The farmer is doing it wrong. When shearing the wool of a sheep, it is crucial to keep it in one piece. Tsk-tsk, such inconsistency with reality.

And that's why I still own REAL dictionaries, my friend. *grin*

What is this wonderful physical copy dictionary you have, Xiao, which manages to cover more vocabulary than the internet dictionary comprised of five-six different dictionary sources?

The full 24-volume Collins dictionary, actually. It's a bitch to store, but allows me to be a smart-arse QUEEN.

I make do just fine with my Oxford Advanced Learner's dictionary and the Norstedts Swedish to English/English to Swedish dictionary I once managed to soak with meat soup.

I only have one dictionary, and that's nynorsk (New Norwegian) to bokmål (lit. Book Language aka. eastern Norwegian).

Otherwise askoxford.com and translate.google.com work just fine for my needs.

Actually, I wound up buying mine on the recommendation of my pre-tertiary literature teacher. It took me a couple of years to get the full set, but it's been totally worth it.

Scuze me, I think I've got something in my eye...

I am planning on buying the full set of the Longer Oxford English Dictionary soon. Word is that the 3rd edition is't going to be printed at all and I like real books.

    Books look classy.

When I get rich, I will have a mansion with a library full of leather bound books. I may not ever read them, but nothing else in the world could give off the same aura of snobbish education.

I would like to add an order of magnitude to that and say that my aspirations are more like those of Charles Foster Kane.

The Xanadu of Sweden? Now that would be a sight worth seeing.

It is my understanding that "jiggy" as used in the context made popular by Will Smith is in the Merriam-Webster dictionary. These inclusion alone steers me toward the American Heritage Dictionary, should I ever stir myself to purchase one.
