Backgrounds bug - no Apprentice to Blacksmith

Craig "Mental" McDormand sent word of a bug in the character backgrounds, and even sent in a fix! Apparently, the backgrnd.mes file that comes with the game (inside the DAT files) is bugged, which causes the <i>Apprentice to a Blacksmith</i> background to not be displayed. You can get a fix in our <A HREF="/council/articles/hackmod/">hacks & mods</A> section. If your backgrnd.mes is already hacked, use the following instructions instead:<blockquote> In the backgrnd.mes file, 3rd block (starting at line 20), you'll find this: <br>{20}{1002}<br>{21}{88}<br>{22}{400}<br>{23}{}<br>{24}{}<br> If you're familar with editing backgrounds, you'd notice that line 22 is wrong. Normally on that line it should list the allowable character types or be blank. Instead it has 400, that's the backgrounds starting gold which should be one line down.
