This song happens to be in my native English, however the native tongue of the band is likely German:
    <object width="420" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/s1Cy1_O_jCI?version=3&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/s1Cy1_O_jCI?version=3&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="420" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>
I have not been able to get enough of this particular song lately.

Here's a German song you may have heard of, it isn't my native language of course but given the "resent[ment] of the [english] cultural hegemony":

    <object width="480" height="360"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/9whehyybLqU?version=3&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/9whehyybLqU?version=3&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="480" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

And here's a song that represents Great Britain in all its glory (the band is welsh):

    <object width="480" height="360"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/yzx0HTCuydg?version=3&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/yzx0HTCuydg?version=3&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="480" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

Probably not to most people's taste, but I'm into it.

No love for Black Velvet Band or Seven Drunken Nights wayne? Unfortunately/fortunately depending on your perspective, I was heavily schooled in folk music by parents at an early age gaining knowledge of the Dubliners, the Corries and Lindisfarne - also I'm an eighth Irish and Scottish respectively, though half of my family feels culturally that it is Scottish given the last name Murray (a last name I don't share, as confusingly it was primarily my English dad who pushed folk music on me). Despite my "schooling", I love Drink and Fight and What's Left of the Flag by Flogging Molly (not entirely Irish, but great never the less).

Separately may have been the word I was looking for - a quarter in all; though my quarter Scottish quarter Irish relatives on my mum's side claim to be fully Scottish because most of them were raised in Scotland and not sunny old [insert Jojobobo's home county]. Really though Irish, Scottish, is there any difference?

    Please don't bomb my house.

I guess for some actual British music I like, here's this (turn it up so the sweet riff pounds in your ears):

    <object width="560" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/vdkmhquF60o?version=3&amp;hl=en_GB"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/vdkmhquF60o?version=3&amp;hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

Honestly, Silent Alarm is one of my favourite albums and I'd recommend it to anyone; listen to any song on that album (except perhaps maybe Luna) and you should like it, particularly Helicopter or even better the Helicopter Remix. Also Hail to the Thief by Radiohead, particulatly I Will because I'm creepy like that. Finally One of a Kind by Placebo is also great.

EDIT: And also Racing Rats by the Editors, because I'm sorry to say DE but far from resenting the English cultural hegemony on music, I love it! Not that Hallelujah in Swedish wasn't touching or anything.

PS I only just listened to wayne's classical song all the way through and I was shocked, shocked, to hear the almost subliminal advertisement for Ireland encorporated into the song. Shame on you wayne, just when I was about ready to open my heart to classical music. And I thought adverts for Skegness were bad.

Darth Vader is Luke Skywalker's father, and Leia is Luke's sister.

To be a Yuki, or not to be a Yuki. That's the question.
