Well, if this isn't freaky, nothing is: http://sports.yahoo.com/oly/short_track ... cksho.html It's still awesome though. I can't really understand why the Aussie guy was booed though...sure, he had incredible luck, but that's what the sport is all about. Anyways, it's a good read. Incidentally, Steven Bradbury was also part of the skating team that won Australia's first ever Winter Olympics medal.
I wondered how come the crowd were shouting "Oh no!" before the crash ... The boos were probably due to a partisan crowd. Ohno, certainly didn't seem to have any problems with Bradbury's win. I think it was very poor grace to boo him, but I can't say that I'm surprised. I don't agree with you that soprt is about luck, though. I reckon it's about achievement attained through all kinds of factors, the least of which is luck.
I heard his leg got bust open. Well unless there's a few fractures he could go on I guess. 4 liters of his blood you say?.. lucky guy, average adult body only contains about 5.
Okay, maybe not all about luck, but he did have large amounts of it...Still, you really have to see the video of it. Everyone just falls, and he coasts through, easy as you please.
I like the fact that Bradbury makes the boots that Ohno wears. Actually, I saw that on TV... It's a great crash! Funny sport though... You would've thought there'd be a re-race.
Actually, loo, he plans to race again in a couple of days. That injury that Ohno got isn't as bad as other injuries people have had - hell, Bradbury himself needed 111 stitches in his leg in 1994 after a crash, lost 4 litres of blood and nearly died.
Maybe it wasn't his blood. Maybe he was carrying a Jar (catch my drift?) containing 4 liters of blood, dropped, and shattered it.
That's a surprisingly funny comment coming from you loo. As for the four litres of blood thing, it is what happened to him. He also broke his neck last year, but managed to come back. Before you dispute the breaking of the neck thing, it is possible to break your neck and not die/become paralysed/etc etc etc.
does anybody else think that the chick that won the second gold medal is kinda hot, on the spankability meter i'd give her a 9 out of 10
