    Not likely.

Question: Which browser(s) and which version are the people that are getting all the pop-ups using? Also, are you using a local internet provider or a major (AOL, Earthlink, etc.) provider?

Keep trying pop-up stoppers until you find one that works.

    Or try oprah/opra/whatever it is.

Internet Explorer, latest version. Using Southwestern Bell DSL.

But, I still haven't had a single popup since I altered my profile. Not sure what the correlation is, but that's the way it went...

Luchaire, did you change from Terra Arcanum layout to "subsilver"? Is that how you got rid of them?

Hmmm..... I've always used SubSilver, so that could explain why I've never seen a pop-up.

Either that, or the furry dial is real! :D

Subsilver seems to take care of all the pop-up problems. I wonder why that is, though, that you get a bunch of popups with the Arcanum setup, but not with the other? Wierd, no? Maybe we shouldn't let whoever it is that hosts this site find out (or perhaps it's too late?), lest it was an oversight on their part, and they flood subsilver with pop-ups too.

It's a shame though, I really prefer the maroon and black colors better, but there's only so many pop-ups I can take! I suppose this annoying bright scheme is a small price to pay for not having "Night of the Living Pop-Ups" bury me alive in advertising annoyance.

It's Opera you dumbass and if you insult my beloved browser again you'll find yourself following your sky-high kicked arse

Some things on Opera in case some people want to switch. You can get rid of pop-ups really easily. Opera has wonderful "refuse pop-up windows" option. Also you can set it to load no/or cached images only which significantly speeds up forum pages load time since almost all the graphics are already in cache. On the other hand sometimes you may have problems with java documents. It also shows adverts unless you pay for it BUT they are not shown in a seperate window nor do they slow down browsing. Once a week opera downloads few (really few) banner sized images to show them up till next week. They don't obstruct viewed pages in any way. All in all, unless you're viewing a lot of java pages it's the browser for you. And if you surf forums mostly you can't possibly get anything better. Did I mention that you can choose all the windows to open within single copy of program running? Yep, unlike IE you can have dozens of windows opened with only a sinlge copy of program running.

    If you're interested check http://www.opera.com/

Oh yeah if you decide to use it enable pop-ups from time to time. We don't want our host to see that all pop-ups get mysteriously blocked at the House of Lords.
