Augh! I can't take any more!

I'm gonna kill myself if that fucking "Buy, Rent, or Rent-to-Own" popup comes up one more friggin' time. On average, I get 5 copies of it for every T-A page I load! WTF???

Fuckin' pop-ups.

I understand the need for advertising, etc, to help pay for a site and hosting, etc. But this one is just a little over the top.

And yes, I know I could d/l a pop-up stopper, but the last one I had caused more problems than it helped! (don't ask...)

Weird. Are you set to login automatically? Is your browser accepting cookies?

I'm using Zone Alarm Pro to block ads now, but even prior to this I wasn't getting them like you are.

I have the free version of ZA and login automatically and I only get one pop-up when I initially open this page. Thats it.

 

Yep. That's what I normally get. One per "visit." That's what's so weird.

Something's not right in my universe.

Okay, many things are not right in my universe.

 

I don't know then... Maybe they've increased the ad rate or something. Maybe one of your IE settings undid itself.

All I know is that I only had that problem when after I cleared my cookies and I wasn't logged in. I got slammed by pop-ups and a request to install Gator on my computer.

 

I'm also logged in and accepting cookies, and I'm having the same problem you are, Luchaire. The "Buy, Rent or Rent-To-Own", "Carden Media Designs" thing is driving me insane. It pops up with every new thread I open, and if I'm not constantly shutting them down, they start to pile up like crazy.

I can empathize. I too have had issues with pop-up blockers. *sigh* All we can do is keep closing 'em. :sad2:

 

Try the "Emoticons Fix". Click on the "View more Emoticons" link, let the window open but don't close it. It has been rumored to be a temporary fix to the pop-up problem.

 

Tried that already. Doesn't help. They just keep a-poppin. (Thanks for trying, though, Vlad)

Honestly, it's ok...I don't mind so much. Gives me something to do while the pages are loading. (Ok, I mind a little, but, SILVER LININGS, People!)

Bizarre. I went into my profile, altered a few things (including the "look" of the forum) and... voila!... no more popups. How the hell.....???

 

I tried that as well. I'm not getting the "Buy, Rent..." Pop-up anymore..now i'm getting a bunch of varied ones. *sigh* Oh well...

 

I think Calis is messing with us. He's got some kind of sophisticated personalisation engine behind this site, and he's sitting there all day changing the pop-up rates for each user. I can just imagine his evil grin as he whacked you onto "shedload" mode.

And I'd just like to ask what exactly you are talking about? I've only ever seen 1 pop-up, and that was months before the sector31 meltdown.
