Atlantis has been found!

ummm... yeah. i looked at their scientific proof page, but there wasn't any proof, only a link to what looks like a logic problem... i think we've been had...

 

Wasn't Atlantis some Greek city, or somewhere in the Mediterranean? How'd it come up near China?

 

Actually Atlantis was supposed to be a lost continent or city.

 

legend is they destroyed themselves with their own technology--they used strange rocks from beneath their city to fuel their tech-stuff, and eventually the island became so riddled with mines that it sunk. the really interesting part to me is the fact that every culture in the world has a legend about a sinking island of advanced people... from china to south america to aborigines in australia... which points to there having been an island at some point, even if it wasn't as great as legend says it was.

 

From what your saying rosenshyne is that atLantis was destroyed by technology and mines. Which one. To me mine shafts dont seem all that tech no logic ally advanced to me. What i heard is that the original king of atlantis...Krull, was overthrown from the kingdom due to his barbarian roots and afterwards the island was destroyed when power mongrols fought for the crown. And please dont hit me after reading this.

There are all sorts of Atlantis theories. The one I think is most credible is the big volcano in the Med blowing up and destroying the island.

 

i watched a show a couple months ago (yes, i know i watch way too much tv) about these people who think they've found atlantis in the mediterranean. they found this weird quasi island that's basically just a horseshoe of land with deep water in the middle. on the part that's still above water, they think they've found remenants of city walls, but they haven't gone in the sea to excavate anything yet. and then, of course, there's the weird stone formations off the coast in the carribean that look like roads, and for awhile people took that as proof that atlantis was nearby, but most scientists now agree that it's actually the result of volcanic activity...

 

Maybe Atlantis or the different variations of the stories from different cultules is just a warning. The atlantiens technology grew at such a fast pace they destroyed themselves,Right? Well, what happened to the egyptians,romans,and other vast empires. They're all gone. But at the time they were the pinnacle of technology. so maybe the modern world should heed the warning of Atlantis.

 

It's not technology that destroyed those civilizations, but society.

didnt the Aztechs believe that the spaniards were gods. Ive never heard of them believing in dragons. Dragons seems too eureopean. The aztechs were mostly into the spirit world and the whole worship everything ideal because it might be god.

 

Qetzacoatl means feathered serpen in Aztec, and was the name of their chief god (or one of their chief gods). Basically he was a dragon (lookihng more Chinese-style than European), though he often appeared in stories as a white man with a white beard and hair and shining clothing. Looked a lot like a conquistador, actually. Thus the confusion. Dragon-y things appear in just about every culture that has snakes, and some that don't. usually they are divine or powerful in some way, and always immortal or long-lived.

And he would look like a white bearded man, so at first the Aztecs thought they were gods. The Spanish didn't just have gunpowder - they had horses, and metal armour. And they allied themselves with some provinces of the Aztec empire who weren't happy to be ruled by the Emperor.

 

That last was one of the most important factors of the Spanish Conquest. Once the initial "god delusion" wore off (which was quickly), the Aztecs would have added some Spaniard hearts to the daily sacrifices to the sun god, if not for the alliance of the Texcoco, Tlaxcalas, and other tribes with the Spanish. When the Aztecs were conducting garland wars for the sole purpose of obtaining captives for sacrificial purposes, you can imagine the other tribes weren't too happy about their continued existence. Of course, they were exchanging one form of oppression and imminent death for another: the Spanish gold mines.

 

I watched a documentry on abc a while back about archeoligists searching for atlantis who believed it was underground because it was behind a mountain ridge in greece and a massive wave came over and flooded the city causing a moutain behind to crumble covering it. and they actually found it by drilling underground for artifacts, they found pots and currency from that time used specifically in atlantis. And NO they werent considered to be technologically advanced sorry to dissapoint you all
