If you are caught lockpicking, stealing, or performing lewd and lascivous acts in public, you should be arrested and left in prison for some time ...
you could meet interesting characters there ...
you could pickpocket the guard for the keys ...
you could use your PERSUASION skill to get out ...
you could sell your body to get out ...
    you could pay bail ...
... or you could rot there ...

That's actually a great idea. In any case, you should lose your equipped weapon.
    ...
    Not that weapon, Khat.

I'm amazed that you managed to miss an entire line in a post consisting entirely of 8 lines. He said, "you could pay bail", and why bother bribing when you can just do that?

Both things could be included. For minor criminal offences you could pay a bail. In case of major ones you oculd still hope to bribe a guard.

Or you could seduce a guard, lol. It would be kewl to hav a skill that makes you hide weapons and lockpicks on your body, like at level five you could hide an elephant gun down your shirt.

That's because Virgil had it set up as a trait during character creation. At higher levels he learns how to stuff his sheep with items (and not only items - bloody pervert).

    Sounds like great ideas!
Also, maybe some cells would have a dirt floor, and if you had a shovel, you could dig your way out, but would get in BIG trouble if the wandering guard caught you.

There would have to be a trial too... the people in your party would testify for you (unless they didnt like you much), and any wandering civillians that saw you would testify against you.

I'd want Johnny Cochran to represent me. Make up some cool rhymes to raise the seed of doubt, invoking such things as Chewbacca, the price of sweet cakes, and my Uncle Herschel. (who may or may not actually be Chewbacca)

When you pay bail, if you go to trial you get it back. Or a bail bondsman gets 10% as a fee.

When you bribe your way out, you still have a warant out for you.

As for trials, read Thorne Smith* for some HILLARIOUS trial sceens. If the trial sequences are good enough, people will want to get busted to see them.

    * mostly written 1930s - 50s. Best known work, "Topper". Still funny today.

This jail idea seems as though it would be doing a long arduous quest over and over, thus making an idea like "destroying all of arcanum" a worse off idea than it is now. (unless of course you destroyed the jail too...hmmm....seems like fun.) :D

What?! Try Morrowind! The jailing stuff is awesome in it! It should use a system similar to that.

Logically, if you "got the fucking point", then you'd stop being idiots and doing it anyway.
