Relax. It's on a white background.

One matter has popped up. When I try to make a transparency, my old Photoshop darkens the hell out of it. Something about 24 bit.

This was done with a 95% brightening prior to pasting.

Here's what I got by converting to 8-bit first (3rd try):

It looked great until it was saved, then it became very grainy and the white circle appeared.

Anyone else want to have a go at this?

    And thanks, Spuddy!

The second one you've got there looks pretty good though.

I agree with blue boy above; many old photos I've seen are pretty dark. Except the ones who have been sun bleached, but that's another matter.

By the way, the whole layout reminds me of a pic in the foldout lid of an old gold watch (the round type hanging on a chain).

Now that you mention it... Oh well.

Two hours later and I'm still no closer to getting a good picture.

    That's excellent, GrimmHatter.
How did you keep the grey from darkening?

I'm stuck with Photoshop 5 and.... well, it doen't always give me what I want.

I use Macromedia Fireworks for all my graphics. I don't know why yours was getting that grey hew as I've never used Photoshop. But glad you like it.

EDIT: I saved it as a 128 color Websnap Adaptive gif. I don't know what all that means but it seemed to do the trick.

    That's pure awesome.

    A couple of title suggestions:

    Extraordinary Gentleman

    Chronic Argonaut

    Discoverer of the 5th Element

EDIT: Fullmetal Alchemist, depending on how keen you are on anime.

Without ever seeing the anime, I think Fullmetal Alchemist has an adequate steampunk ring to it. That or "The Analog Cog"

I think "Techie" has that sort of cute ring to it that rroyo deserves.

    - Oh, that's rroyo, our little techie.
    - Awwwwwwww!!

    Would "Technocrat" work?

Fullmetal Alchemist seems to be in the lead right now so how about a little something to differentiate it from the movie?

    A Fullmetal Alchemist
    The Fullmetal Alchemist

    How about "Professor of Mechromancy"
    or "Flow Technomatrist"

Either we decide on "The Fullmetal Alchemist" straight away, or we ponder for a while more. Might have to start a poll...

    Another suggestion in bastardized latin:

    Ars Gratia Technologis

I support "The Fullmetal Alchemist", too.

    And congrats, by the way.
